Mazzer Mini G – compact 64 mm espresso grinder with Grind-by-Weight

Buy the Mazzer Mini G in Switzerland: Grind-by-Weight grinder with 64 mm flat burrs, a scale in the portafilter holder and ±0.1 g dosing accuracy. In Bern and Zurich or online.

The Mini G combines the design of the Mazzer Mini with a built-in scale. Mazzer calls it a compact grinder for light commercial use: die-cast aluminium housing, a specially tuned asynchronous motor and 64 mm flat burrs from its own production in Scorzè near Venice. Coffee Coaching Club is a partner of Mazzer and carries the Mini G in black and white.

Features of the Mazzer Mini G

Precise dosing

According to Mazzer, the Mini G dispenses doses with ±0.1 g accuracy, depending on operating conditions. The built-in scale measures to a hundredth of a gram, and the display shows the actual weight of the ground coffee. A Vibration Filtering Algorithm keeps dosing consistent even when the counter vibrates. According to Mazzer, the grinding rate is 2 to 2.5 g/s, depending on the coffee and grind size.

Simple workflow

In Grind-by-Weight mode, the Mini G adjusts the dose automatically. No reweighing and no readjusting after a change in grind size. Grinding is started via the portafilter or the dosing cup, so you grind hands-free. An anti-static system keeps the counter clean, and the adjustable portafilter holder centres the grounds in the basket.

Saves coffee and time

The Mini G holds the set dose weight regardless of grind size. According to Mazzer, this reduces coffee waste and working time. Like all Mazzer grinders, it is designed for longevity, and spare parts are available for the long term.

Clear control panel

The TFT display is readable from many angles and can be set to 19 languages. Three doses can be programmed by weight or by time, plus a manual grinding mode, recalibration of the load cell, a dose countdown to keep track of the bean supply, colour themes, alerts for service, worn burrs and an empty hopper, and daily statistics.

Mazzer Mini G – 64 mm flat burrs 233M and k202P – Coffee Coaching Club

Burrs to suit your taste

From the factory, the Mini G is fitted with the 64 mm 233M flat burrs in bearing steel. According to Mazzer, they deliver balanced extractions, a pleasant acidity and noticeable body, and hold their own well in milk. As an option, Mazzer offers the k202P in special steel: sweet, delicate extractions, soft aromas, silky texture and medium body. They suit light roasts well and, according to Mazzer, are particularly easy to dial in. Mazzer develops and manufactures both sets itself.

Mazzer Mini G – magnetic dosing cup in the holder – Coffee Coaching Club

Magnetic dosing cup

The dosing cup is included. It is made of magnetic stainless steel, aligns itself under the spout and starts grinding hands-free. According to Mazzer, it holds up to 30 g of coffee and its shape is matched to 58 mm portafilters.

The details in everyday use

Breaking in

According to Mazzer, the burrs have a dedicated surface treatment and work stably from the start. Do not use the first 50 g of grounds for brewing. A little ground coffee between the burrs of a new grinder is normal: Mazzer grinds coffee through every grinder during final inspection.

Hopper and retention

The Mini G is designed as a hopper grinder. With a full hopper, according to Mazzer, around 8 g remain in the grinding chamber, behind the burrs and in the spout. Purge this amount after changing the grind size. In single-dose use, retention after the first three doses averages around 0.1 g. For pure single dosing, Mazzer has the Philos.

Do not moisten the beans

Mazzer advises against spraying the beans with water before grinding. This can clog the burrs, cause jamming and lead the burrs to oxidise.

Mazzer burrs only

For the Mini G, Mazzer recommends only the 233M and the k202P. According to Mazzer, third-party burrs, including Mazzer burrs from other models, affect motor performance, heat, retention, static, vibration, particle distribution and parallelism, among other things.

Designed for up to 1 kg per day

Mazzer recommends the Mini G for up to 1 kg of coffee per day. The components for adjustment and the grinding mechanism are measured optically and by touch, and Mazzer checks burr parallelism at the end of assembly.

Who the Mini G is made for

For anyone who pulls several espressos a day from the same bean and does not want to weigh the dose by hand: at home with several people, in the office or in a small business. If you change beans often, Mazzer offers the Philos as a single-dose grinder. You will find more grinders under coffee grinders.

You can test the Mini G alongside other grinders in our comparison workshop in Zurich, a reserved hour at the machines. It is an option, not a requirement. For a free conversation there is the consultation appointment, and to narrow things down the advice tool. Our opinion is one of many.

What goes with it

Frequently asked questions

How accurately does the Mazzer Mini G dose?

According to Mazzer, to ±0.1 g, depending on operating conditions. The built-in scale measures to a hundredth of a gram, and a Vibration Filtering Algorithm compensates for vibrations on the counter.

What happens when I change the grind size?

In Grind-by-Weight mode, the Mini G adjusts the dose automatically. You do not need to reweigh or reset the saved dose.

Which burrs suit my coffee?

The 233M are fitted as standard: balanced extractions, pleasant acidity, noticeable body, good with milk. According to Mazzer, the optional k202P stand for sweet, delicate extractions with medium body and suit light roasts well. Mazzer does not recommend other burrs.

Can I use the Mini G as a single-dose grinder?

Mazzer designs it as a hopper grinder with around 8 g of retention with a full hopper. In single-dose use, retention after the first three doses is around 0.1 g. For pure single dosing, Mazzer recommends the Philos.

How much coffee per day can the Mini G handle?

Mazzer recommends it for up to 1 kg of coffee per day.

Can I see the Mazzer Mini G before I buy it?

In our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) we show a wide selection, and the display changes. Write to us at [email protected] before your visit, and we will check whether the Mini G is currently on site.

Tip from the roastery: The Mini G's hopper usually holds one bean for the whole day. Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight suit this well, both full-bodied and round, in espresso as well as with milk. If you are looking for maximum body without acidity, choose Very Nutty. With the k202P burrs, Wild Peach is a fruity discovery. As a starting point, we pull at a 1:2 ratio. That is our recommendation, one of many.
