MHW-3BOMBER Multifunctional Knock Box 51–58 mm – your whole espresso routine in one place

A short, muffled knock, and the puck drops into the container. The portafilter goes back into its recess, the tamper stands next to it, the puck screen lies in the drawer. No searching, fewer grounds on the counter, a single walnut piece where everything has its place.

The knock box from MHW-3BOMBER combines tamping station, portafilter holder, knock container and drawer. Three recesses take portafilters, tampers and distributors of 51 to 58 mm; a removable insert adapts the portafilter recess to different sizes. Next to them sits the knock container with a capacity of 1.5 litres and a silicone knock bar that dampens noise and impact.

Recesses for 51 to 58 mm

The two round recesses with a diameter of 60 mm take most tampers and distributors. With the insert, the portafilter recess measures 63 mm and fits portafilters of 51 to 54 mm; without the insert it is 72 mm for 58 mm portafilters. A height-adjustable support keeps the portafilter level while tamping.

    Removable knock container

The knock container holds around 1.5 litres, up to 25 pucks according to the manufacturer. The silicone knock bar dampens impact and noise and protects the portafilter. To empty and clean it, you lift the container out.

    Magnetic drawer and silicone pads

The side drawer with magnetic catch holds puck screens, baskets and small tools. The removable silicone pad on top protects portafilter and accessories and can be washed. Silicone feet on the underside keep the box from slipping and protect your worktop.

    Which station suits you?

If you already have a knock box, a portafilter holder may be enough: for 51 to 58 mm, MHW-3BOMBER makes one in walnut with a drawer and a slim one in ABS. In our experience, the multifunctional knock box is worth it when you want everything in one piece and have the room for it on your counter.

    Who it is made for

For everyone who pulls several shots a day on a portafilter machine and wants to reduce their workspace to one piece. For households where several people drink espresso and the knock container should not have to be emptied after every coffee. And for everyone who likes wood on the counter and wants puck screen, tamper and distributor in a fixed place.

If you are still looking for the right machine or grinder to go with it, our coffee machine advice tool helps you choose.

    What goes with it

Before tamping, you loosen the coffee grounds with a WDT tool, for example from MHW-3BOMBER, Normcore or Weber Workshops. You will find tampers in different versions under Tamper, and more accessories under Barista equipment and tools.

More knock containers are available under knock boxes and knock containers and knock boxes and drawers. And for the next puck: our coffee beans from our own roastery.

    Frequently asked questions

How much does the knock container hold?

The knock container holds 1.5 litres. To empty and clean it, simply lift it out.

Does the knock box fit my portafilter?

The recesses are designed for portafilters, tampers and distributors of 51 to 58 mm. A removable insert adapts the portafilter recess to different sizes.

    Is knocking out loud?

The knock bar is made of silicone and dampens noise and impact. Silicone feet on the underside keep the box steady and protect your worktop.

    What is the drawer for?

In the magnetic drawer you keep puck screens, baskets and small tools. That way the top stays free for portafilter, tamper and distributor.

How quickly will the knock box be delivered?

Delivery takes 2–4 working days, throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein. You can also order online and pick up in Bern or Zurich.

Can I see the knock box before buying?

Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – the display changes. Best ask briefly beforehand whether it is on site at the moment.

Tip from our roastery: Take a look at the puck before you knock it out. In our experience, with the right grind size and dose it drops into the container as a firm cake; if it is wet and falls apart, it is worth going one step finer or using a little more coffee. For espresso we like full-bodied beans such as Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight, and for maximum body Very Nutty. If you would like to discover a fruity note, you will find it in Wild Peach. That is our recommendation, one of many.
