Normcore Gravity Distributor / Leveler (53.3 & 58.5 mm)
You place the tool on the portafilter, let it spin a few times under its own weight – and the small blades gently push the coffee grounds over the surface until it is level. A smooth movement that levels the puck before tamping.
A distributor with a five-blade base that evenly distributes the coffee grounds in the basket.
What makes this distributor special
The base works with five blades that evenly guide the coffee grounds outwards as they rotate. This prevents coffee density from accumulating in one spot and keeps friction low during distribution – a level base that prevents uneven extraction and channeling. Distribution is a learning process, not an exam, and this is just our view, one of many.
The tool is made of anodized aluminum and stainless steel. It is available in 53.3 mm and 58.5 mm, each also in a titanium PVD-coated version.

Who it's made for
For everyone who wants to arrange their coffee grounds with a smooth rotating motion before tamping. Choose the size that fits your portafilter: 53.3 mm for 54-mm baskets from brands like Breville and Sage, 58.5 mm for common 58-mm portafilters. At our place, every coffee journey is welcome.
Goes well with
Before that, you might want to loosen the coffee grounds with a WDT tool, then comes the tamper – both affordable and excellent from our Normcore Collection, with more demanding materials from Weber Workshops. Also, bottomless portafilters and filter baskets also from Normcore.
You can find the right machine in the Coffee Machine Collection, the grinder in the Coffee Grinder Collection. If you're still choosing, use our consultation tool.
Frequently asked questions about the Gravity Distributor
How does the five-blade base work?
The five blades evenly guide the coffee grounds outwards as they rotate, so that the coffee density does not accumulate in one spot and the surface becomes level.
Which size should I choose?
53.3 mm fits 54-mm baskets from brands like Breville and Sage, 58.5 mm fits common 58-mm portafilters. Both are also available in a titanium PVD version.
How does it differ from the Heavy Coffee Distributor?
The Gravity Distributor distributes using a five-blade base; the Heavy Coffee Distributor from our Collection has an adjustable depth. Both level the puck before tamping – it's a matter of preference.
Do I need it in addition to the WDT tool?
They complement each other: the WDT tool loosens and breaks up clumps, then the distributor levels the surface. Doing both results in the smoothest tamp.
Roastery Tip
Even distribution helps, the bean makes the taste. For dense, sweet espresso, we like to reach for Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight. If you like it full and round without any acidity, stick with Very Nutty; for a fruity experience, Wild Peach goes into the grinder. This is our recommendation, one of many, and every bean you enjoy is the right one.
