The steam draws the milk into a calm vortex, and a fine, glossy foam gathers at the spout.
These pitchers are drawn from polished stainless steel, rounded in shape, with a curved strap handle and a sharply formed spout. That's exactly where latte art happens: the spout focuses the stream of milk, and the more defined it is, the more precisely you can place the point where the foam breaks through the crema.
Size isn't a question of taste but of physics. Milk needs room to roll, and the steam wand needs immersion depth. A 350 ml pitcher suits one to two cups, the 500 ml pitcher two to three. Too much milk in a pitcher that's too small splashes; too little milk in one that's too big never finds a vortex. That's why most people end up with two sizes on the counter.
Stainless steel has a second advantage that has nothing to do with looks: you feel the temperature through the wall. Heat receptors in the palm of your hand tell you when it's time to stop, long before a thermometer reacts. How fine the foam ends up is a matter of practice, not of equipment. There's no right and no wrong, and our opinion is one of many.

For anyone who froths milk for cappuccino, flat white or latte at home and wants a pitcher that doesn't pour by chance. For anyone who drinks coffee as a pair and doesn't want to froth twice. And for anyone just starting to draw with the spout who needs a reliable shape for it.
The matching machines with a steam wand are in the Profitec collection. In Bern and Zurich you can hold both sizes in your hand in person, and if you want to buy a milk pitcher in Switzerland, you can also get it from us directly online. You'll find more shapes and volumes in the milk pitcher collection.
Without strong steam, every pitcher remains theory. The selection of espresso machines with a steam wand is in the coffee machine collection, from compact single boilers to dual boilers. Financing is available from us for machines and more expensive grinders, and a private barista course can also be booked.
For anyone who wants an affordable, sturdy milk pitcher: the Normcore pitchers. If you want more elaborate craftsmanship and a different pouring feel: the Rhino and Weber Workshops pitchers. And because milk needs a dense base: our espresso beans from our own roastery, full-bodied enough to carry through the milk.
The 350 ml pitcher suits one to two cups, the 500 ml pitcher two to three. If you mostly drink on your own, 350 ml will take you a long way. If you often froth for two, go for the larger version.
Yes, that's what the spout is shaped for. How fine the pattern turns out depends on the quality of the foam and on practice, not on the pitcher alone. Both sizes pour cleanly.
Profitec doesn't say, so we don't claim anything. We rinse them by hand straight after frothing, before the milk residue has had a chance to dry.
They're independent of the machine; all you need is a steam wand with enough room underneath. With very compact machines, it's worth checking the height between the wand and the drip tray.
Yes. In our showrooms in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b, you can see both sizes in person. Buying online remains the normal route, and this text gives you everything you need for it.

Milk is unforgiving: it covers up whatever is too thin. That's why, from our coffee roastery, we recommend Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight: dense, aromatic and full-bodied, with caramel, chocolate and nuts that carry through milk too.
If you're after maximum body without any acidity, go for Very Nutty, and for the curious, Wild Peach with its fruity note remains a discovery. That's our recommendation, one of many, and any bean you enjoy works.
