MOTTA Tamper Flat "Flower" 58 mm – Stainless Steel Flat Base, made in Italy
A fine flower pattern runs across the handle – a friendly eye-catcher on the counter, while the flat base beneath presses the grounds level.

What makes this tamper
The flat stainless steel base presses the coffee grounds level, so the water flows evenly through the puck instead of finding a quick way through. The tall rim, around two centimetres high, sits centred on the 58 mm portafilter without slipping while you press, and the handle unscrews for cleaning. The tamper is made in Italy – Metallurgica Motta has been building tools like this since 1967.
An even tamp is the foundation for an even extraction – and that, in turn, for a drink that tastes good. Which look you hold in your hand is a matter of taste: the function is the same across all variants, the design is yours to choose. Nobody needs a particular pattern – you want it, or you don't. Our opinion is just one of many.

Who It's For
For everyone with a 58 mm portafilter who wants to tamp the coffee grounds level – and who likes deciding for themselves which look sits on the counter. The flat base is the classic choice for an even tamp.
What Pairs Well With It
The tamper is part of the puck before the shot: it's ground evenly in our coffee grinders, then pulled on your espresso machine. Our advisory tool helps with the choice.
If you'd like to compare tampers and accessories: affordable and precise is the Normcore Collection, while the Weber Workshops Collection shows the especially finely crafted side. More models are waiting in our Tamper Collection.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which portafilter size does the tamper fit?
For 58 mm portafilters. The tall rim sits centred and doesn't slip while you press.
What material is the handle made of?
The handle is aluminium with a flower pattern, the base is stainless steel. The handle unscrews for cleaning.
Flat or convex – what's the difference?
A flat base tamps the grounds level, a convex one presses more toward the centre. There's no right or wrong – many prefer the flat base for an even tamp. In the end, what counts is that the cup tastes good.
Can I see the tamper in person before I buy?
Absolutely. In our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zürich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) you can experience it live. Online, we deliver within 2–4 business days, across Switzerland and to Liechtenstein.
A Tip From Our Coffee Roastery
An evenly tamped puck deserves full-bodied beans. Our Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight bring notes of chocolate and nuts. For maximum body without any acidity, the Very Nutty, for a fruity experience, the Wild Peach. That's our recommendation – one of many.
