Renz Silicone Grease for Coffee Machines and Grinders – Food-Safe for Brew Group, Gaskets, and O-Rings

You twist the portafilter into place, and instead of a dry crunch, you feel a soft, even resistance: the gasket yields gently, the handle sits firmly, the extraction starts smoothly. This precise, smooth feeling is created by a thin film of food-safe silicone on your machine's gaskets.

Renz Silicone Grease is made for exactly that. A small tube that makes a noticeable difference – and a bit of a care ritual that connects you with your machine.

Why a Thin Silicone Film Changes So Much

O-rings and gaskets are elastomers – elastic materials that only seal properly if they remain pliable. Without care, they dry out, start to seize, and wear out faster. A thin film of silicone grease protects the material, keeps it elastic, and allows moving parts to glide easily without sticking.

The grease is odorless and tasteless, colorless, and neutral towards plastics and elastomers. It does not dry out and remains stable over a wide temperature range from approximately -40 °C to 200 °C – precisely where water, steam, and pressure meet in your machine. Because it is food-safe, it also has its place in areas that come into contact with water and coffee.

How often you grease is not a strict rule. Some maintain their gaskets after every thorough cleaning of the brew group, others when something feels stiff. This is our perspective – one of many. The important thing is that your machine feels good and your coffee tastes great.

Who Renz Silicone Grease Is Made For

For everyone who has a coffee machine at home and likes to keep it running smoothly. The grease is suitable for the brewing unit of a fully automatic coffee machine as well as for the gaskets and O-rings of a portafilter machine, for the steam nozzle, the coupling, or the milk container. Brands like Jura, Saeco, DeLonghi, Melitta, Philips, Siemens, Bosch, or Nivona are not an obstacle – the grease works across all brands.

Whether your machine is small and fine or has a large presence on the counter: maintenance is part of both, and no setup is too simple or too grand for it.

What Goes Well With It

A well-maintained gasket is part of the care – the rest is in our machine and grinder cleaning: from cleaning the brew group to descaling. This keeps not only the gasket pliable, but the whole machine clean.

Incidentally, this grease doesn't stay with the machine: On coffee grinders like the Varia VS3 and VS6, it is often used to keep the grind adjustment smooth. If you're looking for an affordable and precise coffee grinder, the Varia VS3 or Comandante C40 are good choices; if you want more, check out the Varia VS6 or the Weber Workshops EG-1. You can discover which machine suits you in our coffee machines – and if you're unsure, our machine comparison tool will help you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I use Renz Silicone Grease for?

For O-rings and gaskets on coffee machines: the brewing unit of a fully automatic machine, the gaskets of a portafilter machine, steam nozzle, coupling, or milk container. It is also often used on coffee grinders like the Varia VS3 and VS6, for example, to keep the grind adjustment smooth. Anywhere where two parts need to meet tightly and movably.

Is the silicone grease really food-safe?

Yes. Manufactured in Germany, the grease is food-safe, odorless and tasteless, and colorless – it does not alter the taste of your coffee.

Is the grease also suitable for my machine brand?

It works across brands, including with brewing units from Jura, Saeco, DeLonghi, Melitta, Philips, Siemens, Bosch, and Nivona, and is also suitable for gaskets on portafilter machines.

How much silicone grease do I get?

You receive a single tube with 6g. Since only a thin film is needed per gasket, this is enough for many applications.

How often should I grease the gaskets?

There is no dogma for this. Many grease after a thorough cleaning of the brewing unit or when something feels stiff. You decide what feels right for your machine.

Can I see the product before buying?

Certainly. You can experience Renz Silicone Grease live in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b). Online, we deliver within 2-4 working days to Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Tip from our Coffee Roastery

When the machine is running smoothly again, the next espresso tastes twice as good. For the vast majority, we recommend something rich and dense: Cozy Chocolate with its cocoa notes or Nutty Delight with roasted hazelnut and a full crema.

If you're looking for maximum body without any acidity, stick with Very Nutty. And for all who want to discover a fruity experience, Wild Peach awaits with ripe peach notes. This is our recommendation – one of many, and every bean deserves to find its moment with you.

You're part of the Coffee Coaching Club as soon as you're here – not just when you buy something.
