That's the Clix Mate Gold Clix in everyday use. A two-cubic-centimetre helper made from Comandante's QTP® polymer, made for the C60 Baracuda with the GX50 brass clicker. Originally developed for Comandante users who take their grinder outdoors — to the mountain hut, the camper van, the bivouac. In daily café use and professional setups it's at least as valuable, because it makes grind adjustment faster and disassembly for cleaning noticeably easier. Important: Which Comandante Axle Do You Have?
Comandante has two different clicker systems. The Clix Mate Gold Clix only fits one of them. Check before you buy:

The geometries aren't compatible. If you have a C60 Baracuda, the Gold Clix won't help you get anywhere — and vice versa. If in doubt, just ask us, we'll look at a photo of your axle and tell you what you need.
What the Clix Mate Gold Clix Actually Does
Larger grip surface for the GX50 brass axle
The GX50 clicker is precisely built but compact — that's the whole idea behind a portable hand grinder. When you change the grind size, you grip the brass geometry directly with three fingertips. With cold fingers, with gloves, or when the grinder vibrates in your hand (say, while you're grinding with the other hand), that gets fiddly. The Clix Mate adds a noticeably larger turning surface without changing the click precision.
Faster disassembly for cleaning
Anyone who cleans their burrs regularly — a mandatory routine every few weeks with a hand grinder — knows that the adjustment knob is the limiting factor. The Clix Mate makes unscrewing and reassembling by hand noticeably easier. What used to be fiddly turning is now a turn with your whole thumb.
Storage capsule under the silicone lid
There's a small storage capsule built in under the food-grade silicone lid. Comandante designed this with the outdoors in mind — salt, pepper, spices for pasta at the mountain hut, or an emergency portion of beans for an unexpected third espresso. In café settings, some baristas use the capsule for a cleaning brush or a small cupping reserve bean.
QTP® polymer from German Comandante manufacturing
Comandante builds the Clix Mate from the same QTP® high-performance polymer used in the C40 bean jars — dimensionally stable, abrasion-resistant, and won't warp over the years. Made in Germany, manufactured in Hanover-Wohlen.

Who Needs the Clix Mate Gold Clix?
We regularly see three profiles among enquiries:
Outdoor coffee setups with the C60 Baracuda. Hiking, camping, hut weekends, mountain biking — anywhere cold fingers or gloves come into play, adjusting the grind size on the bare GX50 clicker is an exercise in patience. The Clix Mate solves that.
Specialty cafés and competition setups using the C60 as a cupping grinder. Anyone switching between different beans per shift and adjusting the grind size accordingly benefits from faster adjustment — the seconds add up over the day.
Home setups with frequent disassembly for cleaning. Anyone who cleans the burrs every few weeks (part of grinder care, just like daily backflushing is part of espresso machine care) finds a genuine workflow aid in the Clix Mate.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Clix Mate Gold Clix fit my C40?
No. The Gold Clix fits exclusively on the C60 Baracuda with the GX50 brass clicker. For the C40 (Standard or Red Clix axle) and the X25 Trailmaster you need the Clix Mate Standard / Red Clix. The two are not geometrically compatible.
How do I know if my C60 has the Gold Clix system?
All current C60 Baracuda models come with the GX50 Gold Clix system from the factory. Comandante also shipped the upgrade free of charge to early C60 buyers. If your C60 has a gold-coloured (brass) clicker under the body, that's the Gold Clix system — the Clix Mate Gold Clix will fit.
Does the Clix Mate change the click precision?
No. The Clix Mate fits onto the brass clicker without interfering with the mechanism. The C60's three-fingertips-per-click characteristic stays unchanged. You feel the clicks just as precisely, only with a larger grip surface.
What's the storage capsule actually for?
Comandante designed it for outdoor coffee setups — salt, pepper, spices at the mountain hut. In home and café routines, many users find creative uses: a small cleaning brush, a cupping mini reserve, a spare screw for the axle. Optional, not required.
Is the Clix Mate dishwasher safe?
No. Clean with a damp cloth, remove the silicone lid separately if needed and rinse briefly. Avoid aggressive chemicals and the dishwasher — that protects the material integrity and the fit precision.
Can I leave the Clix Mate attached while grinding?
Yes. The Clix Mate doesn't interfere with the grinding process. Many users leave it mounted permanently and only remove it for cleaning.
What grinder care suits the C60 Baracuda?
Regular cleaning of the burrs every few weeks — by hand with a brush and cloth, without chemicals. For very oily beans, Urnex Grindz is occasionally worth it, as long as the grinder is easy to take apart (which it is with Comandante). More on that in the Grindz entry.
Do you offer Swiss service for Comandante?

Roastery Tip
The Clix Mate is a small detail that noticeably improves the workflow with the C60. My suggestion from showroom practice: if you use a C60 Baracuda at home or in a café and work with more than one bean, the Clix Mate is a genuine comfort upgrade. You'll change the grind size more often because changing it goes faster — and that's exactly what a hand-cranked grinder allows: bean-specific dial-in, without an electric grinder and its warm-up time getting in the way. With Cozy Chocolate you'll want different clicks than with Wild Peach — and with the Clix Mate, the switch takes two seconds, not twenty. That's my view from the roastery, one of many.
