Acaia Orion Bean Doser – Automatic Dosing by Weight

It's rush hour. You place a cup on the platform, and before you even grab the next one, the Orion has weighed the dose, given a short beep, and is already waiting for the one after that. No counting, no second scale, no pausing – just a steady stream of beans, cup after cup, precisely by weight.

It's the invisible rhythm behind a calm bar: When dosing runs by itself, your mind is free for the coffee.

What makes the Acaia Orion Bean Doser special

The Orion doses whole beans by weight before they go into the grinder – and it does it fast: 225 grams in twelve seconds, 20 grams in three, with an error margin of only two to three beans. A patented conveyor screw moves the beans gently, without damaging them. In fully automatic mode, dosing starts as soon as a container is placed on the platform and stops with a beep when the target weight is reached. This way, you fill a series of cups without pressing a single button.

Using the rotary dial, you can save three target weights and choose between three modes: Precise for small doses, Fast for large quantities from around 100 grams, and Green for green coffee – for example, during sample roasting or packaging at the roastery. The intelligent system compares target and actual weight and fine-tunes itself over time. And if one or two beans are missing at the end, you can add them manually until the weight is exactly right.

For us, this fits into a simple conviction: Good coffee starts with the ratio, and an espresso, for example, at a 1:2 ratio, depends on the input quantity being correct. No shot is like yesterday's, because beans, humidity, and people change daily – a constant dose at least takes one variable out of the game. The Orion provides this consistency without anyone at the counter constantly having to watch the scale.

Do you need such a device? Honestly: no. A scale and some routine will also do the job. The Orion is for everyone for whom flow is important – the steady dosing, the rhythm gained, the time that flows back to the actual craft. You want it, or you don't. Both are perfectly fine, and this is just our view, one of many.

Who the Orion is made for

The Orion is for environments where dosing is frequent and consistent – the coffee bar during rush hour, the roastery for packaging or sample roasting, the cupping table. In weighing mode, it also functions as a bench scale with a 3000 gram capacity.
