What makes the Pearl Multifunction Protective Pad special
The pad is made of non-slip silicone and fits perfectly on the Acaia Pearl. It shields the sensitive electronics from heat – this is more than just aesthetics, as temperature over time affects the weighing cell and thus the accuracy of the scale. At the same time, it protects the surface from scratches and gives the scale a secure grip on the work surface.
Its special feature is its reversible design: in one position, the finely structured surface provides a stable base for a cup or carafe during pour-over. When you flip it over, the raised sides serve as a rest for the portafilter, allowing you to weigh out the dose directly. This way, you can switch between filter and espresso without having to reconfigure anything. It’s also easy to clean. One pad is included with every Acaia Pearl anyway – but a second one in a different color or as a spare is still practical. Whether you need it is up to you; this is just our view, one of many.

We like to have a second pad in reserve – the one in constant use acquires a patina over time, and a fresh grip is good for the scale. For espresso afterwards, we like to reach for Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight – full-bodied, sweet, dense. If you like it full and round without any acidity, stick with Very Nutty; for a fruity experience, Wild Peach goes into the grinder. This is our recommendation, one of many, and any bean you like is the right one.
