Brita Purity C Filter Head Set VII
The water that flows through your plumbed-in machine helps determine how the espresso tastes – and whether lime scale builds up in the boiler over time. The Brita Purity C filter head set takes control of this variable: it treats the water, protects against calcification, and tells you when the filter is nearing the end of its life.
What's included in the set
The set consists of the Brita Purity C filter head with flowmeter, which works with Purity C cartridges such as the Quell ST. The cartridge reduces the carbonate hardness of the water – precisely the hardness that leads to scale in the boiler and pipes. The result is treated water for a more consistent taste and reduced calcification.
Bypass and Flowmeter
The filter head allows a variable bypass of 0 to 70%: you set what proportion of the water is filtered and what proportion is added untreated – this way you can adjust the mineral content to your machine and your taste. The IntelliBypass technology keeps the bypass rate constant, regardless of the flow. The integrated flowmeter counts every liter and shows when the set filter capacity has been reached.

Why water matters
Water accounts for over 90% of espresso, and its mineral content directly influences extraction and taste. A pleasant range is often between 50 and 100 mg/l – you can approach this window by adjusting the bypass on the filter head. At the same time, the reduced carbonate hardness protects the machine from the inside. This is our observation, one of many.
Who it's for
For everyone with a plumbed-in espresso machine who wants to treat their water and protect their machine from scale – and who wants to keep an eye on when the filter needs changing.
The right setup
Matching replacement cartridges and accessories can be found in our Brita Collection. Plumbed-in machines are available in our Coffee Machines and in the Arkel Collection. If you want to measure the mineral content of your water, you will find measuring devices in the Barista Tools.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the bypass of 0 to 70% mean?
The bypass determines what proportion of the water is filtered through the cartridge and what proportion is added untreated. With a 30% bypass, for example, 70% is filtered. This allows you to adjust the mineral content to suit your machine.
What is the flowmeter for?
The flowmeter counts every liter that has passed through and shows when the set filter capacity has been reached. This way you know in good time when the cartridge should be changed.
Does the set fit every machine?
It is designed for plumbed-in espresso machines. We would be happy to clarify with you which cartridge and bypass are suitable for your water and your machine – this depends on the local water hardness.
Can I view the set on site before purchasing?
Yes, in our showrooms in Bern and Zurich. Delivery to all of Switzerland and Liechtenstein takes 2 to 4 working days.
As a coffee roastery, we see water as part of the recipe, not an afterthought. If the base is right, the characteristics of a full-bodied roast like Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight emerge more clearly. This is our recommendation, one of many.
