Three sizes, one filtration – which cartridge fits?

The three cartridges differ only in capacity. The filtering performance is identical. The correct size depends on daily water consumption and local water hardness – at 10 °dH carbonate hardness, C50iQ delivers up to 960 liters, C150iQ up to 2,500 liters, and C500iQ up to 7,500 liters before a change is needed. What the cartridge filters – and why it matters for espresso

Limescale is the most common reason for machine failure in gastronomy. The PURITY C iQ cartridges reduce the carbonate hardness of the raw water – the proportion of filtered to unfiltered water is automatically adjusted by the iQ filter head, so that the mineral content remains in the ideal range of 50–100 mg/l. Too few minerals and the espresso tastes flat. Too many and limescale forms. The cartridge alone filters. The iQ filter head thinks along.

Which cartridge do I need – C50, C150 or C500 iQ?

This depends on daily water consumption and local water hardness. Rule of thumb: C50 iQ for a single small consumer, C150 iQ for a medium consumer or a café with moderate throughput, C500 iQ for high water consumption or multiple devices. What does capacity at 10 °dH mean?

The stated capacity applies to a carbonate hardness of 10 degrees German hardness (°dH) – which corresponds to medium-hard water. For harder water, the capacity decreases, for softer water, it increases. The PURITY C iQ filter head calculates the remaining capacity in real-time based on actual water consumption and measured hardness.

Does the cartridge have to be combined with the PURITY C iQ filter head?

For automatic function, yes – the iQ filter head measures the raw water, automatically adjusts the bypass, and reports the remaining capacity to the iQ Portal. The cartridge also works with the classic PURITY C filter head, but without automatic adjustment.

How often does the cartridge need to be changed?

This depends on water consumption and water hardness. The iQ filter head continuously calculates the remaining capacity and reports to the iQ Portal in good time when a change is due.
