ECM Portafilter Single Spout – chrome-plated portafilter with wooden handle
Wood instead of metal in your hand, a handle that stays warm, and suddenly the movement of locking it in feels more natural.
These portafilters are built at an angle. That sounds like a detail and is the real difference: the angle allows a natural hand position when you lock it in, instead of your wrist having to bend. If you pull two shots in the morning, you'll hardly notice – if you pull five in a row for guests, you'll notice straight away. Add to that the balanced weight distribution, which keeps the portafilter steady while you distribute the grounds.
Chrome-plated body, wooden handle
The body is finely chrome-plated, the handle made of wood – either Smoked Oak or olive wood. Because wood grows, every handle has its own grain, which makes every piece unique. A subtle ECM embossing sits in the material; no more marking is needed.
The single spout is made for a single shot. The basket decides more than you'd think: the choice of basket changes the flavour profile fundamentally, because hole pattern and hole distribution control how evenly the water runs through the puck. No basket is included, so you can choose exactly the one you want to work with.
Whether Smoked Oak or olive wood is the right choice has nothing to do with technology. Smoked Oak is dark and calm, olive wood lively in grain and lighter. Nobody needs a wooden handle to make good espresso. You want it because the tool feels different – and that's a completely legitimate reason. Our opinion is one of many.

Who it's for
For everyone with an ECM E61 machine who pulls single shots – whether because they drink alone, or because they don't want to double the dose every time they dial in a new grind size. A second portafilter next to the one you already have is also handy when there's little time between two shots.
And for everyone who likes tools you enjoy picking up. Design and feel influence enjoyment before the first sip – that's not a marketing idea, it's well researched. No budget is just a beginning here: a chrome-plated portafilter with a plastic handle makes the same espresso.
What goes well with it
Since no basket is included, the first thing worth a look is our precision baskets and filter baskets. That's where you decide how evenly the water runs through the puck.
Before that comes distribution: for everyone who wants WDT tools that are affordable and good, Normcore is the obvious route; if you want more, go for the Moonraker from Weber Workshops. Same with tamping: affordable and precise, the Spring-Loaded Tamper from Normcore; more effort at Weber Workshops. The matching machines are in our ECM collection.
Frequently asked questions
Does this portafilter fit my machine?
It's a precise fit for ECM machines with an E61 group head. On E61 machines from other brands, the mounts are usually similar but not always identical – just send us your machine's article number and we'll give you a definite answer.
Is a basket included?
No, the portafilter is delivered without a basket. That way you can choose the basket that suits your dose.
What's the difference between Smoked Oak and olive wood?
Only in the handle. Smoked Oak has a dark, calm grain, olive wood is lighter and livelier. Technically both are identical, and because wood grows, every handle looks a little different.
Can the portafilter go in the dishwasher?
No. ECM recommends cleaning it by hand, partly because of the wooden handle.
What is the single spout for?
For single shots. If you regularly pull two cups at the same time, the double spout is the better choice.
Can I see the product before buying?
Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – the display changes. Drop us a quick line at [email protected] before your visit, and we will check whether the product you have in mind is currently there. If you order online: delivery to Switzerland and Liechtenstein takes 2 to 4 working days.
From the roastery
Single shots are the best way to get to know a new bean, because you don't have to pour anything away between two attempts. Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight are grateful for it, dense and sweet with chocolate and nut. Very Nutty brings maximum body without any acidity, and Wild Peach is the fruity discovery for the curious. That's our recommendation, one of many.
