Eureka Mignon Automatic Tamper – 58mm High-Speed Tamping from Florence
Seven in the morning. The portafilter slides into the fork, a touch, 0.9 seconds – the puck is tamped. Consistent pressure, flat surface, every time. What changes is not the speed, but the mental space you gain: warming the cup, dosing the grinder, preparing the milk happen in parallel. The rhythm becomes calmer because one step simply falls away.
What Makes the Mignon Automatic Tamper Special
Eureka has been building coffee grinders in Sesto Fiorentino near Florence since 1920 – and knows the movements behind the counter. The Automatic Tamper is their answer to the question of what in the espresso workflow is truly repetitive: tamping. The adjustable tamping force from 10 to 30 kilograms means that you decide once what you want – after that, the device delivers the same value. Consistency is not a gimmick when it comes to espresso: if the tamping pressure changes, the resistance the water finds in the puck also changes – and thus the extraction. By removing pressure as a variable, you observe the bean, grind, and ratio more clearly.
In Single Mode, a tamp takes 0.9 seconds, in Double Mode, 1.4 seconds with two sequential tamping pressures. Some baristas consciously use Double Mode to make the compaction more even and reduce cracks in the puck – Single Mode remains for those who prefer a classic tamp. There is no right or wrong; what matters is the taste in the cup. Our opinion is one of many.
The 58 mm tamper disc is removable for cleaning, the universal portafilter fork is height-adjustable between 39 and 60.6 mm – it accommodates single, double, and naked portafilters of all brands. A lifespan of over 300,000 tamps is specified, a value for commercial high-load, which at home is simply a reserve. The metal body made of aluminum and stainless steel with a rubberized base stands stably on any countertop. Designed for the Mignon series – visually matched to Specialità, Silenzio, Libra, Bravo, Stark, and Single Dose – it also works independently next to any other grinder.

Who the Mignon Automatic Tamper Is For
For everyone who already has a Eureka at home and wants to have the workflow visually and functionally aligned – grinder, tamping, machine. For everyone who prepares several espressos a day and no longer sees tamping as a ritual moment, but as a repetitive movement that can be outsourced. For everyone who understands consistency as a prerequisite for learning: As long as the tamp varies, you don't know with each shot which variable you are changing. Remove it, and the rest becomes clearer.
The tamper works just as well with any other grinder brand – it is visually matched to the Mignon, but technically independent.
You can buy the Eureka Mignon Automatic Tamper in Switzerland directly from us – online with delivery in 2 to 4 working days or live in the Coffee Coaching Club Showroom in Bern and Zurich. We are partners of Eureka from Florence and carry the complete Mignon series.
Nobody needs an Automatic Tamper. Some love the moment of manual tamping – hand, weight, gesture. Others see it as a recurring step they would gladly automate. Both are right. Those who want it know why.
Pairs With
The Mignon Automatic Tamper complements every grinder from our Eureka collection visually and functionally – Mignon Libra, Atom W 65 Casa, Single Dose Pro, Specialità. It works just as independently next to any grinder from our coffee grinder collection. Those who want to further clean up their workflow will find suitable tamping stations, knock boxes, and dosing cups in Barista Equipment. For the machine itself, it's worth looking at our coffee machine collection – from single boilers to dual boilers.
Those who want to keep tamping manually will find precise and affordable spring-loaded tampers in our Normcore collection. Those who prefer manufactured quality and a hand-forged tamper should look at Weber Workshops. The Eureka Mignon Automatic Tamper is the answer for those who want to completely automate tamping – both approaches are valid.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the tamper only fit Eureka Mignon grinders?
No. It is visually matched to the Mignon series, but functions as an independent device next to any grinder. The portafilter fork is universally height-adjustable from 39 to 60.6 mm and accommodates single, double, and naked portafilters of all brands.
How much can the tamping pressure be adjusted?
Between 10 and 30 kilograms, steplessly. You choose the value once that suits your bean, your basket, and your taste – after that, the tamper consistently delivers this value.
What is the difference between Single and Double Mode?
In Single Mode, the tamper applies a single tamping pressure in 0.9 seconds. In Double Mode, two tamping pressures follow sequentially in 1.4 seconds – some baristas use this to make the compaction more even and avoid cracks. Which mode suits you will show in the cup.
What tamper diameter is installed?
The standard configuration includes a 58 mm tamper disc – the most common portafilter diameter worldwide. The disc is removable for cleaning.
Where can I buy the Eureka Mignon Automatic Tamper in Switzerland?
Online directly in the Coffee Coaching Club Shop with delivery in 2 to 4 working days to Switzerland and Liechtenstein – or live in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b). If the device is not available on site, we will bring it to the store within one to three days. Seeing it live is part of our community idea – you belong because you are here.
How long does the device last?
Eureka specifies a lifespan of up to 300,000 tamps – with two espressos a day, that would be several hundred years. The value is intended for commercial high-load; in home use, it's a reserve. Defects can occur, but the material is consistently designed for durability: aluminum and stainless steel body, rubberized base.
How fast is delivery?

Roastery Tip
We recommend a tamping pressure between 15 and 20 kilograms as a starting point – the range in which most of our beans extract cleanly. With our Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight, you get a full-bodied, round espresso with caramel and nutty notes, whose depth is highlighted by consistent tamping. If you're looking for full body without acidity, go for the Very Nutty. And if you like the fruity route, the Wild Peach offers a lively cup that becomes aromatically clearer with even tamping. Which one suits you will only become clear in the cup.
