The surface on the GB5 X that gets worked on all day long
The drip tray grate is the most-used surface on the entire machine. Cups are placed on it, portafilters tapped out, milk jugs set down, and everything that misses runs through here. In hospitality, that adds up over the years to hundreds of thousands of movements on one piece of stainless steel.
At some point it shows. The surface turns dull, edges become sharp, and a grate that has warped wobbles with every cup.
When it's time to replace it
A replacement is needed when the grate is warped and rocks on the tray, when corners have lifted, when edges have become sharp and nobody likes reaching past them anymore, or when the surface is so worn that it stays stained despite cleaning.

Who it's for
For cafés and restaurants with a 2-group GB5 X that work on this surface every day and treat it to a new one after years – visually the biggest noticeable difference for comparatively little effort.
What goes with it
For taller vessels there is the attachment for the GB5 drip tray grate, 2-group, and for larger machines the attachment for 4-group machines. Tip from our workshop
A grate that rocks is almost never down to the grate alone – usually there is a rim of coffee grounds at the bottom of the tray lifting it. That's why, at our places in Bern and Zurich, the grate comes out every evening, the tray is rinsed, and only then do we judge its condition. That is our routine, not a manufacturer requirement. The first extraction the next morning runs with Nutty Delight, Cozy Chocolate for chocolatey notes or Very Nutty for body. All roasts under Coffee beans.
Returns excluded
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fitting on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a short message and we'll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
Is the drip tray included?
No. Only the grate is supplied.
Does it also fit a 3-group machine?
No. This grate is for the 2-group version. There are separate parts for other numbers of groups.
Can I put it in the dishwasher?
We wash it by hand. Dishwasher detergent is aggressive and makes stainless steel surfaces dull over time.
My grate rocks – do I need to replace it?
First empty and clean the tray. Very often it is just a rim of grounds lifting the grate.
Can I see the part in the showroom?
