La Marzocco right steam kit for the Strada AV – the second side that has to keep up
In a busy bar, both steam sides work at the same time. Two jugs, two baristas, and nobody has time to fight with a valve that has become stiff or keeps hissing after it's closed. As soon as one side stops cooperating, two workstations turn into one.
This assembly sits on the right-hand side of the Strada and is listed by the manufacturer as a complete kit. If more than one individual part of the steam valve assembly is worn, a kit is the cleaner route – the machine is then out of action only once instead of three times.
Descale first, then replace
Before replacing a steam valve assembly, descaling is almost always worth it. Limescale in the steam path causes exactly the symptoms people attribute to a faulty valve: an unsteady jet, less power, a valve that no longer closes properly. Take a look at our machine and grinder cleaning range, for example the descaler. If the problem persists afterwards, replacement is the right step.
When it's due
When the valve keeps dripping or hissing after closing, when it is stiff or can no longer be finely adjusted, when steam escapes from the assembly where it shouldn't, or when the jet stays unsteady even after thorough descaling.
Right or left?
The two sides are not the same part. This kit is the right-hand side with part number 990-VDX. The opposite side is the left steam kit for the Strada AV with number 990-VSX. Left and right are given from the barista's point of view, i.e. looking at the machine from the front.

Important for installation
The steam valve assembly is connected directly to the steam boiler. Before any work, the machine must be disconnected from power, fully depressurised and cooled down – residual pressure in the steam boiler is the most common cause of scalding during service work. We deliberately do not provide step-by-step instructions for this part. Have a professional do the replacement, or write to us and we'll arrange it through our service.

For service companies overhauling a Strada AV, and for cafés whose right steam side is causing problems and who want to get the part before the service appointment.
What goes with it
The opposite side is the left steam kit. On the same machine you'll find the group channel and the group pump seal kit. Everything else under La Marzocco Strada spare parts and original spare parts.
Tip from our bar
When a steam side starts to weaken, we first check whether it really is the valve assembly – or simply that the boiler pressure is no longer right because two wands are being used at the same time. That takes five minutes and has already saved us more than one unnecessary part replacement. This is our experience from Bern and Zurich, not a manufacturer specification. For tasting with milk we like to use Nutty Delight, Cozy Chocolate or Very Nutty. All roasts under coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or test-fitting on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we'll confirm the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.

The scope of delivery corresponds to the manufacturer kit 990-VDX. If you need the exact parts list before ordering, write to us – we'll check with the manufacturer.
Is this an electrical assembly?
As we classify it, this is a mechanical steam valve assembly. We don't sell solenoid valves or electrical Autosteam components online. If your Strada has an Autosteam fitted, send us the serial number before ordering.
Is right from my point of view or from the machine's?
From your point of view, when you look at the machine from the front like the barista.
Why does the kit cost the same as the left side?
Because it's the same scope, just mirrored. The manufacturer lists both sides at the same price.
Can I see the part in the showroom?
