The portafilter body that takes the fall – and is available on its own
Sooner or later, a portafilter gets dropped. Onto the stone countertop next to the machine, into the knock box drawer, out of your hand while knocking it out. The body is the part that takes the hit: the metal body with the bayonet that holds the basket and onto which the spout is screwed. A bent handle, a chipped bayonet, a worn spout thread – and suddenly the portafilter no longer sits cleanly in the group.
Being able to get the body on its own is the real point. The basket, the spout and often the handle are usually still in perfect shape; only what has suffered gets replaced. The item name lists the body, the spring for the filter basket and the spout gasket as the scope of delivery. We are not aware of a part number for this part: it is neither in our spare parts list nor in the catalogue we otherwise get the numbers from. We don't make one up – send us the model and serial number of your machine and we'll match the part for you.
When it's due
- The portafilter no longer locks cleanly into the brew group or sits at an angle.
- The bayonet shows notches, burrs or worn spots.
- The spout thread no longer grips properly, the spout is loose or drips at the thread.
- The handle can no longer be tightened firmly on the body.
- After a fall, the body has a visible dent or a crack.

Who it's for
For anyone whose portafilter has suffered mechanical damage while the basket and spout are still fine. And for cafés that want a second body hanging on the machine so they don't have to knock out and rinse every time between two shots.
If you're looking for a complete portafilter instead, a ready-made portafilter is the better choice – we carry those as separate items.
What goes with it
From our workshop in Bern and Zurich
In Bern and Zurich, a fresh body gets a calibration round before the first guest: same bean, same dose, dial in the shot again. A new body sits differently in the group, and the shot often runs a few seconds differently afterwards. That is our routine, not a manufacturer specification. As a reference we use Nutty Delight, for dense chocolatey notes Cozy Chocolate and for body without acidity Very Nutty. The full selection is under Coffee beans.
Returns excluded
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured to order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or send us a quick message and we'll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
Is a filter basket included?
No. The item name lists the body, spring and spout gasket. A basket, a spout and a handle are not included.
Which thread does the spout have?
We have no documentation on the thread size, so we don't state one. Tell us which spout you want to keep using and we'll check it together.
Can I reuse the basket and spout from my old portafilter?
Usually yes, if the dimensions match. Because we don't have the dimensions, we don't claim it across the board – give us the model and serial number and we'll clarify it.
What is the part number of this part?
We don't know of a number for this body, and we don't make one up. If you have a number from service documentation, send it to us and we'll check it against our records.
Can I see the part in the showroom?
Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – the display changes. Drop us a quick line at [email protected] before your visit, and we will check whether the product you have in mind is currently there.
