Mahlkönig Silicone Flapper 10 pieces – so your E80S delivers cleanly into the portafilter
Button pressed, the burrs start pulling, and below, the grounds drop into the portafilter – loose, bundled, without half of it dusting over the rim. That is the job of a part hardly anyone ever lays eyes on: the silicone flapper. It sits as a soft flap in the grounds outlet, takes the static charge out of the coffee and holds the stream together until it lands in the basket.
Silicone is a wear part. Coffee oils, cleaning agents and daily contact with the brush harden the material over time. Once the flap goes stiff, the grounds fan out wider and stick in the outlet. This pack puts ten of them on your shelf in one go – the quantity that means you won't have to think about it for a good while in the café or the workshop.
When it is due
Three signs: the grounds spread wider than they used to and dust over the rim of the portafilter. A ring of grounds stays behind in the outlet after every shot. And when you bend the removed flapper between your fingers, it no longer springs back but stays in shape. At that point at the latest, a replacement is worth it.

Who it is for
For cafés and roasteries running one or more E80S in continuous operation, and for service businesses that swap the flapper as part of routine maintenance. If you run a single E80S at home, the silicone and metal flapper set usually works out cheaper – the 10-pack pays off from the second grinder onwards, or if you want to keep spares in stock.
What goes with it
You'll find everything around the grinder under Grinder Accessories and Spare Parts. For the E65S family, the same pack is available as Silicone Flapper 10-Pack E65S / GbW. And before you replace a part, it is often worth taking a look at our Machine and Grinder Cleaning – a gummed-up outlet looks deceptively like a tired flapper.
Tip from our workshop
This is our own routine from Bern and Zurich, not a manufacturer specification: we don't change the flapper by the calendar, but whenever we have the grinder open for cleaning the outlet anyway. Two extra minutes, and the output is back to how it was on day one. After that we grind two doses through to bed it in – usually Nutty Delight or Cozy Chocolate, because those are the blends whose output we know best. If you like it stronger, take Very Nutty. All our beans are in the coffee beans collection.
Returns excluded
Service parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced to order and cannot be put back on sale once they have been fitted or test-fitted on the machine. So check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your grinder before you order – or drop us a quick line and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
Does this flapper also fit the E65S?
No. The E65S family has its own pack with its own part number. If you are unsure which grinder you have in front of you, send us the serial number and we will check the fit.
How often do I need to change the flapper?
There is no universal figure – it depends on throughput, roast level and cleaning. The condition decides: once the silicone goes hard or tears, it is time.
Do I need tools for it?
The flapper sits in the grounds outlet. How it is held there differs depending on the build version – so we don't give general instructions. When in doubt, your service partner will do it in a few minutes.
Why ten pieces and not one?
Because that is how Mahlkönig supplies this part. The pack pays off for anyone who looks after several grinders or wants spares on the shelf. For a single replacement, the silicone and metal flapper set is the better choice.
Can I see the part at your shop?
Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – the display changes. Drop us a quick line at [email protected] before your visit, and we will check whether the product you have in mind is currently there.
Questions about the fit? Write to us at [email protected] or give us a call – you can order online, by phone or directly in the shop. We deliver across Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2-4 working days.
