Olympia clearly states: this gauge is the installation aid for inserting the seals on the piston of both the classic Cremina and the Cremina SL. It helps with brew head service – not to be confused with the Cremina SL Piston Installation Aid (Art. 230124), which is made for the piston removal and installation of the SL pressure spring brew group. Both tools complement each other and are not interchangeable.

When installing the complete seal set (Cremina brew head seal set or Cremina SL brew head seal set), the gauge ensures that all retaining rings and seals are in the correct order and position. While servicing can be attempted without the gauge, Olympia clearly states: for clean reproducibility, the gauge is mandatory.

This gauge helps with installing the seals on the piston. The Cremina SL Piston Installation Aid (Art. 230124) is a different tool – it is for the removal and installation of the complete piston in the SL pressure spring brew group. Anyone who completely disassembles and reassembles the SL needs both tools.
Do I need the installation gauge for every service?
Not for every service – for a simple external seal change, a brew head seal without a gauge is sufficient. For a complete brew group overhaul with a seal set, the gauge is practically mandatory.
