Swiss original standard: Olympia Express black
This tamper here. The included standard, functional and honest. For anyone who wants a suitable tamper without premium ambitions.
Olympia high-quality version: red with wooden handle
If you want to stick with the Swiss original, but prefer the higher-quality craftsmanship – red painted wooden handle, more precise pressure surface, more weight: the Olympia Tamper 54mm red with logo.
Premium level: Weber Workshops
If you want the endgame – unibody construction, numerous base profiles, maximum craftsmanship: the Weber Workshops Tamper family.
Who this Olympia Tamper is made for
For all Maximatic owners looking for a functional original tamper in the right size – without the surcharge for the red wooden handle version. Our opinion: The black standard tamper does its job without any ifs or buts. Others see it differently.

Tamping mat: affordable from the Normcore Collection. Puck Prep Tool: Olympia Original 54 mm, a cheaper Normcore WDT Tool, premium the Moonraker from the Weber Workshops Collection. Machine: Olympia Express Collection.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why the black one, when there's also a red tamper?
The black tamper has an anodized aluminum handle and is the standard delivery with new Maximatic machines – functional, lightweight, cheaper. The red tamper has a wooden handle with lacquer and higher quality craftsmanship. Both are 54 mm and fit the Maximatic.
Does the 54 mm tamper also fit the Cremina?
No. Cremina and Cremina SL have 49 mm sieves – there is a separate 49 mm version for them. The 54 mm tamper is for the Maximatic.
What is the difference to Normcore or Weber Workshops tampers?
Normcore offers tampers with spring calibration in the affordable range. Weber Workshops is in the premium segment with unibody construction. Olympia is the Swiss original, matching the Maximatic – without a spring, simply functional.

Roastery Tip
The black standard tamper is the most honest entry into the Maximatic setup – functional, lightweight, Swiss. For beans, we recommend the Nutty Delight as a reliable everyday choice that harmonizes wonderfully with the heat exchanger aroma profile.
