When something drips inside the housing even though everything looks tight from the outside
A two-group machine like the RE Doppia has more metres of piping than any home machine, and every single connection is a potential leak point. The steam pipe is a pre-formed metal pipe that carries steam from the boiler to where it is used. It moves a little with every heat-up and cool-down, and over the years it is exactly this movement that wears out the sealing surfaces.
It rarely shows up dramatically. Usually a service reveals a damp spot or a white limescale trace under a fitting, and it stays even after a new gasket. Then the sealing surface on the pipe itself is the problem. The part number is M219907600.
When it needs replacing
The pipe needs replacing when a fitting stays damp or builds up limescale despite a new gasket. When the pipe was bent out of shape during an earlier repair and the connections only line up under tension. When corrosion appears at a bend. Or when the steam pressure on one side is noticeably weaker than on the other, even though the tap, valve and tip have been checked and are clear.

Important for installation
The pipe sits inside the machine in a pressurised steam line, right next to live components and heating elements. We deliberately do not publish step-by-step instructions for this. On a commercial machine, this job belongs in a scheduled maintenance anyway: machine disconnected from power and depressurised, allowed to cool, fittings seated without tension, then a leak test at operating pressure.
