Weber Workshops Blind Tumbler – Dosing & Redistribution Tool for 58mm and 49mm

You grind single dose – but half of it ends up on the counter when transferring to the basket?

Static charge, clumps, uneven distribution in the basket – these are the silent killers of your extraction. The Weber Workshops Blind Tumbler collects the grinds directly, you turn and pour it evenly into the basket – clean, clump-free, without loss. No spoon, no tapping, no coffee grounds on the worktop.

Why Weber Workshops – and why from the Coffee Coaching Club?

Weber Workshops is the manufacturer of the legendary EG-1 and Key grinders – devices around which an entire endgame culture has developed. As the official Swiss dealer for Weber Workshops, we stock the Blind Tumbler and the entire range of accessories. In our showrooms in Zurich and Bern, you can see the workflow live.

What makes the Blind Tumbler special

Proprietary Surface: Weber has developed its own finish that literally repels coffee powder – without chemicals, without coating. The inner wall is mirror-smooth polished; the grinds glide out virtually residue-free.

Compatible with 58mm and 49mm Baskets: Unlike the larger Blind Shaker (58mm only), the Blind Tumbler fits both basket sizes. Ideal if you switch between machines – e.g., an E61 machine and an Olympia Cremina or Flair.

Pull-Plug System: The stopper at the bottom can be pulled out to release the grinds directly and controlled into the basket. With Weber grinders (EG-1, Key), the Tumbler automatically self-centers on the plate thanks to rare-earth magnets.

Material: Anodized aluminum. Available in Silver and Onyx (black). Not dishwasher safe – clean with warm water and a cloth.

Coffee Coaching Club Tip: Aroma Chemistry and Puck Preparation

Why does redistribution make a measurable difference? If coffee grounds are unevenly distributed in the basket – with clumps here, gaps there – the brewing water preferentially flows through the gaps (channeling). In the channels, too much is extracted: chlorogenic acid degradation products and high-molecular polyphenols dissolve (bitter, astringent). At the same time, the clumps remain under-extracted: sugar and fruity esters like ethyl butyrate and ethyl hexanoate do not make it into the cup.

The Blind Tumbler eliminates this variance before you even tamp. Turning and tilting breaks up static clumps and distributes the powder evenly. The result: a tighter extraction distribution, higher yield, clearer separation of aroma layers.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Weber Blind Tumbler

What is the difference between Blind Tumbler and Blind Shaker?
The Tumbler has no lid and fits 58mm and 49mm baskets – you tip and pour the grinds into the basket. The Shaker has a lid for shaking, but only fits 58mm baskets. The Shaker offers active homogenization, the Tumbler is faster and more versatile.

Does the Tumbler also work with non-Weber grinders?
Yes, essentially as a dosing cup. However, the magnetic self-centering on the plate only works with Weber grinders (EG-1, Key). With other grinders, you hold the Tumbler by hand under the spout.

Why is the Tumbler not dishwasher safe?
The proprietary non-stick surface is a mechanical polish, not a coating. Aggressive cleaning agents and high temperatures in the dishwasher can damage this surface. Warm water and a soft cloth are completely sufficient.

Why does the Onyx version cost more than Silver?
The Onyx finish (black anodized) requires an additional processing step. Functionally, both versions are identical.
