What makes the Really Nice Tamper special
A tamper set down at an angle compresses the coffee bed unevenly. With the Really Nice Tamper, the tamping surface aligns itself and presses the puck flat, regardless of how you hold your hand.
Materials
Precision-made from stainless steel, brass and anodised aluminium. Silver and Onyx are the same anodised finishes as on other Weber accessories.
Stabilised wood
Teak and European maple are kiln-dried to below 5 % moisture, pre-shaped and impregnated with resin under pressure. This keeps the wood dimensionally stable through changes in humidity and temperature while showing its natural grain.
Made for Unifilter and Unibasket
The 58 mm tamper measures 58.55 mm. It fits most 58 mm baskets and matches the Weber baskets and the Unifilter exactly. It levels and compresses the coffee bed without creating a vacuum when lifted off.
Easy to keep clean
On many self-levelling tampers, coffee grounds collect between the levelling plate and the tamping base. Weber designed an open angle there: grounds fall out by themselves or can be removed with a brush.
Flat top
The pressing surface on top is flat and parallel to the tamping surface below. This way the force of your hand goes straight into the coffee.

Which size fits your machine
According to Weber, 58 mm (58.55 mm) fits virtually any 58 mm basket, classic or modern, and is matched to the Unifilter and Unibasket. 54 mm (53.50 mm) fits many Dalla Corte as well as Breville and Sage machines, such as the Barista Express, Pro and Touch, Bambino and Bambino Plus, Infuser and Duo-Temp Pro. 49 mm (49.50 mm) fits the 49 mm Unifilter and classic lever machines such as the Olympia Cremina and La Pavoni pre-Millennium, but not La Pavoni machines with 51 mm from August 2000 onwards.
Spring: 9 or 12 kg
The 9 kg spring comes pre-installed. If you like more resistance, fit the included 12 kg spring. Either way it is a matter of taste, there is no right or wrong.

Frequently asked questions
Which size of the Really Nice Tamper do I need?
The size depends on your machine's basket. According to Weber, 58 mm (58.55 mm) fits virtually any 58 mm basket and is matched to the Unifilter and Unibasket. 54 mm (53.50 mm) fits many Dalla Corte as well as Breville and Sage machines such as the Barista Express, Bambino and Infuser. 49 mm (49.50 mm) fits the 49 mm Unifilter as well as the Olympia Cremina and La Pavoni pre-Millennium, but not La Pavoni machines with 51 mm from August 2000 onwards.
Can I change the size of the Really Nice Tamper later?
Yes. Weber offers a Base Kit in 58, 54 and 49 mm. You keep the handle and spring mechanism and only swap the tamping surface.
What is the difference between the 9 kg and the 12 kg spring?
The 9 kg spring comes pre-installed, the 12 kg spring is included and gives more resistance. The choice is a matter of taste.
Does the Really Nice Tamper pull the puck up when lifted?
No. According to Weber, the tamper compresses the coffee bed without creating a vacuum and lifts off cleanly.
Can I add the wooden handle later?
Yes. Weber offers Teak and Maple Onyx as a separate handle set for existing Really Nice Tampers. The set contains only the handle.
How fast is delivery in Switzerland?
2 to 4 working days throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein. Click and Collect in Bern and Zurich is available.
Tip from the roastery: An evenly compressed puck lets water flow through more evenly. With dense, full-bodied roasts such as Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight, this shows in a round cup. For maximum body without acidity: Very Nutty. For a fruity discovery: Wild Peach. The tamper makes tamping more repeatable, the rest is up to you. This is our recommendation, one of many.
