It's already close to room temperature by the time you reach for it, and with every week it carries a little more of you: a fine polish that only comes from use.
The wooden handle is a replacement handle for your existing Weber Workshops Really Nice Tamper – a pure handle component made from stabilized wood that replaces the original aluminium handle in seconds. Available in Teak or Maple Onyx, both with an engraved Weber Workshops mark. Coffee Coaching Club is the exclusive Swiss importer of Weber Workshops.
Solid wood would eventually work against itself near a machine – moisture and heat make it swell or crack. That's why the blank is first dried until residual moisture sits below 5%, then pressure-infused with clear resin. The shape stays stable even when steam or a damp cloth comes close, and the grain stays visible instead of disappearing under a thick coat of lacquer.
Nothing changes in the mechanics of your Really Nice Tamper – spring, base and leveling collar stay exactly as they were. What changes is what your hand notices first. Warmth receptors in your fingertips tell metal and wood apart before your mind catches up – a question of perception, not mechanics, and exactly why it's so noticeable.

For anyone who already owns a Really Nice Tamper and knows how the mechanism feels – and who's curious how wood instead of metal would feel in the hand. The anodized aluminium handle does nothing wrong; it's precise, cool, neutral. The wooden handle is simply a different answer to the same question. Which one you prefer is a matter of taste – our opinion is one of many, yours matters more in the end.
For distributing grounds before tamping, a WDT tool helps: reliable and affordably priced, the Normcore WDT-Tool, or finer in its adjustment, the Moonraker from the Weber Workshops Collection. Right after, a puck screen gives you a cleaner extraction picture – simple and accessible with the Normcore Puck Screen, finer tuned with the Puck Screen from the Weber Workshops Collection. For dosing and redistributing, the Weber Blind Shaker or Blind Tumbler both work well, also available there. If you don't yet own a Really Nice Tamper, you'll find the complete mechanism in our Tamper Selection; if you want to cover a second machine size, just pair your existing handle with the Base Kit from the same collection.
The wooden handle is available directly in the webshop in Teak and Maple Onyx. Delivery across Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2 to 4 business days. Click and collect in Bern, Gerberngasse 44 and Zürich, Hagenholzstrasse 50b. You can experience the feel of both woods live in either showroom.
Yes. The wooden handle is a pure replacement handle for your existing Really Nice Tamper. Base, spring and leveling collar stay unchanged – only the handle changes.
Yes. At Weber Workshops, handle and base are built as separate components. The wooden handle sits on the same mechanism, regardless of which base size is fitted underneath.
No. The wooden handle contains only the handle itself – no base, no spring, no leveling collar. An existing Really Nice Tamper is required.
Teak shows a light, warm tone with visible grain, Maple Onyx is dark-stained and looks more understated. Mechanically, both handles are identical – the choice is purely about look and feel.
Yes, you can experience both woods live in our showrooms in Bern and Zürich. Since not every variant is on permanent display, it's worth a quick check beforehand at office@coffeecoachingclub.ch.

The wooden handle changes nothing about the mechanics – spring, base and leveling collar tamp exactly as before, evenly and reproducibly. What changes is the moment before: the texture in your hand, just before the puck forms. We enjoy that moment most with dense, aromatic profiles like our Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight. If you're after maximum body with no acidity, you'll find it in Very Nutty, and if you want to discover a fruity experience, try Wild Peach. That's our recommendation, one of many.
