The basket sits snugly in the portafilter, and the coffee runs from the bottom as a fine, even rain from many holes instead of a single stream in the middle. Made from a single, 1.2 mm thick piece of stainless steel.
The Weber Workshops Unibasket is a drop-in portafilter basket made of forged, machined and polished 304 stainless steel, with the hole geometry of the Unifilter. It comes in four sizes from 16 to 28 g. Coffee Coaching Club is the official Swiss importer of Weber Workshops.

What defines the Unibasket
Typical baskets are drawn from thin sheet metal. The Unibasket is made from a 1.2 mm thick blank. According to Weber Workshops, the added thickness makes the bottom stiffer: it flexes less during extraction, and this flex is a common cause of cracks and channelling in the puck. All holes are individually laser-cut and reach right up to the vertical wall, for a true 58.5 mm puck from top to bottom.
Full extraction area
Due to how they are made, typical 58 mm baskets have angled side walls and only 48 mm of usable hole diameter. The Unibasket has straight internal walls and holes right up to the side wall, for even extraction throughout the puck.
Extraction dynamics
Weber Workshops calls it «syrup rain» instead of «rat tail»: instead of a single stream, many fine streams run from the bottom. The graphic shows the bottom of a standard basket bulging outwards under pressure, and the bottom of the Unibasket, which barely deforms.
Together with EPF
Together with Weber Workshops Espresso Paper Filters (EPF) and the included Puck Saver, the manufacturer says you can get more out of your shot. Better extraction means fewer discarded shots and therefore less wasted coffee.
The new view
Shots look different in the Unibasket than in a standard basket. The stiffer bottom does not bulge outwards and does not merge the streams into one. This lets you see better what is happening in your puck.
Drop-in solution
The Unibasket brings the extraction properties of the Unifilter to the portafilter you already own. If you do not have a suitable one yet, Weber Workshops offers the BUCK, built specifically for the Unibasket and suitable for any 58 mm group.

Which size is right for you
The size depends on your dose: 16, 20, 24 or 28 g. According to Weber Workshops, using or omitting a puck screen shifts the usable range by around 1 g. If in doubt, go by the dose your grinder and your taste already suggest.
Compatibility
The Unibasket is optimised for the bottomless Weber Workshops BUCK and fits most standard 58 mm spouted portafilters; the retaining spring is included for this. The height varies by size: if your current basket is shorter, the Unibasket may touch the bottom of the portafilter.
With bottomless portafilters, the bottom opening should be at least 61 mm wide, otherwise the taper catches drips from the outermost holes. It is not compatible with the bottomless portafilters by ECM, Slayer, Gaggia, Rancilio and Breville. The portafilters of the La Marzocco Linea Mini R and Micra have thicker walls, and according to Weber Workshops the 20 to 28 g sizes are difficult or impossible to fit there. On Lelit and Rocket it fits, but flow is restricted at the bottom opening. If in doubt, send us your machine and portafilter at [email protected], and we will check in advance.
