Frequently asked questions about Option-O
Where does Option-O come from?
Founded in 2016 in Melbourne by engineers who became coffee enthusiasts. Since 2018 there has also been an in-house workshop in Shenzhen. According to Option-O, all grinders are developed in-house, without white-label sourcing.
Which models are currently available?
The Lagom mini 2, Lagom casa, Lagom P80 and Lagom 01 are available in the shop. The P64 and P100 are listed as sold out. Newly announced is the Lagom GDS, with delivery from September 2026.
What burr sizes do the models have?
Mini 2: 48 millimeters conical. Casa: 65 millimeters conical. P64: 64 millimeters flat. P80: 80 millimeters flat. P100: 98 millimeters flat. Lagom 01: 102 millimeters flat.
What is the GDS?
The Dual-Geometry Grinding System combines two grinding geometries in one housing: 102-millimeter flat burrs with 200 to 2000 revolutions and a 100-millimeter conical burr with 100 to 500 revolutions – available as a hybrid or with two flat sets. Driven by a 1650-watt BLDC motor with belt drive, operation is purely analog.
Which Option-O fits for home use?
The Mini 2 as a compact all-rounder, or the Casa with 65 millimeters for espresso and filter. The P models are built for high throughput – the Lagom 01 achieves up to six grams per second on espresso.
Are Option-O grinders single-dosing grinders?
Yes, the Lagom range is designed exactly for that: you add beans for a single shot instead of filling a hopper.
Why are the large models so expensive?
Because they use burrs and motors that come from the professional segment. For a household with two espressos a day, that's clearly oversized – the small models deliver the same result in the cup there.
