ECM Synchronika II OLED Exclusive Line – Dual Boiler with Core Heat
Buy the ECM Synchronika II in Switzerland: dual boiler with rotary pump, OLED display and heated brew group, ready in around 6.5 minutes according to ECM. Pickup in Bern or Zurich.
The Synchronika II is the upgrade of the Synchronika. Two stainless steel boilers for coffee and steam, an ECM brew group with additional heating cartridges (Core Heat) and PID control with a rotary dial. The chassis is set off in anthracite, the housing is made of high-gloss polished stainless steel, and the pressure gauges have a retro look.
Features of the Synchronika II
Dual boiler with rotary pump
The coffee boiler (approx. 0.75 l) and the steam/hot water boiler (approx. 2 l), both made of stainless steel, work separately. ECM calls the system 3CT (triple temperature control).
Additional heating cartridges
The brew group is fitted with heating cartridges (Core Heat). They bring the group up to brewing temperature quickly and switch off as soon as it is reached. ECM states a heat-up time of around 6.5 minutes.
Active and passive pre-infusion
A mechanical pre-infusion chamber keeps the pressure rise low at the start of the shot. In addition, active (with pump) and passive (without pump) pre-infusion can be set in seconds or switched off completely.
Switching between water tank and fixed water connection
From the factory, the machine runs in water tank mode (approx. 2.8 l). Using a rotary valve and the «Tank Mode» menu item, you switch to a fixed water connection. A 1/8" to 3/8" BSPP metal hose is included.
Anthracite chassis, stainless steel housing
The anthracite chassis is set off from the high-gloss polished stainless steel housing. Add to that toggle valve technology for steam and hot water as well as pressure gauges for boiler pressure and pump pressure.
The details in everyday use
Operation via a rotary dial
Pressing twice opens the menu, turning moves between entries. Brewing temperature is 92 °C from the factory, steam temperature 128 °C from the factory, adjustable up to 132 °C. A short turn to the right switches pre-infusion on or off, a turn to the left the steam boiler.
Steam boiler can be switched off
If you only drink espresso, you can deactivate the steam boiler and save energy. ECO mode switches off the heating after an adjustable time, and on and off times can be programmed.
Shot counter and reminders
The software counts the shots and reminds you to clean the group and change the water filter. If the tank runs out of water, the machine switches off the heating.
Service-friendly design
The expansion valve is easily accessible. A water filter cartridge can be fitted in the water tank, and there is a holder for the blind filter under the drip tray.

Who it is made for
For everyone who wants to set brewing temperature and steam separately and get started quickly in the morning. Whether pure espresso or milk drinks: both boilers work independently. If you only drink espresso, you switch the steam boiler off.
In its catalogue, ECM calls the brew group ECM-61 Core Heat. To us, saturated brew groups such as those from La Marzocco come across as more refined in their aroma profile, regardless of the heating system. That is our opinion, one of many. You will find the comparison of the designs in the tech check E61 and saturated groups, and the heating systems in the deep dive single boiler, heat exchanger, dual boiler.
You will find more models in the ECM collection. The coffee machine advice tool narrows down the choice. A free advice appointment is possible in the showroom, by phone or virtually. If you want to test several machines side by side, book the espresso machine and grinder comparison in the showroom. Both are an option, not a requirement.
What goes with it
For everyone who wants a grinder that is affordable and precise: Varia VS3 or a hand grinder from Comandante and Timemore. If you want flat 58 to 80 mm burrs: Varia VS6, Weber Workshops EG-1 or Option-O Lagom.
For everyone who wants a scale that is affordable and precise: the Normcore coffee scales. If you want an app, Bluetooth and flow rate display: Acaia. For puck preparation: tampers and puck screens from Normcore or Weber Workshops in the tamper collection.
Frequently asked questions
Can I have the Synchronika II delivered?
No. As an Exclusive Line model, it is excluded from shipping and is picked up at one of our showrooms in Bern or Zurich Oerlikon.
What is the difference from the first Synchronika?
The Synchronika II has a brew group with additional heating cartridges (Core Heat) and, according to ECM, is ready in around 6.5 minutes. On top of that come the OLED display with rotary dial and more settings such as pre-infusion, ECO mode and on and off times. The basis as a dual boiler with rotary pump remains.
Can I connect the Synchronika II to the water mains?
Yes. It can be switched from water tank to fixed water connection, and a 1/8" to 3/8" BSPP metal hose is included. Water tank mode is set from the factory.
How long does the Synchronika II take to heat up?
ECM states around 6.5 minutes until it is ready to brew. For a fully heated machine, we allow around 20 minutes. That is our experience.
Can I see the ECM Synchronika II live before buying?
That depends on whether it is currently on display. In our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich Oerlikon (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) we show a wide selection, but not the entire range. Write to us before your visit at [email protected], and we will check whether the Synchronika II is on site.
Roastery tip: With separate boilers, you set the brewing temperature to suit the bean without changing the steam. Slightly hotter brings more body, slightly cooler more aroma. For dense, chocolatey espresso we use Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight, with 1:2 as a starting point. For maximum body in milk drinks Very Nutty, for fruity notes Wild Peach. This is our recommendation, one of many.
