ECM Mechanika VI Slim – Heat Exchanger with E61

Only 25 centimeters wide, yet a fully fledged heat exchanger machine: The Mechanika VI Slim fits into narrow kitchenettes and still delivers steam and brewing water simultaneously. Three selectable temperatures and switchable pre-infusion make it amazingly versatile – from ECM, a German manufacturer based in Bammental near Heidelberg, which produces by hand in Germany and Italy.

Coffee Coaching Club is ECM's partner in Switzerland. A private barista course can be booked separately. Swiss warranty and after-sales support included.

All Features at a Glance

Compact Heat Exchanger Technology

At 25 cm wide, it is one of the slimmest E61 heat exchanger machines. The heat exchanger allows simultaneous brewing and milk frothing.

Three Temperatures and Pre-Infusion

You can choose between boiler temperatures of 120, 124, and 128 °C via a toggle switch. Pre-infusion can be switched on and off, as can an ECO mode.

ECM E61 Brew Group

The patented ECM E61 brew group with stainless steel bell keeps the temperature stable. An accessible expansion valve allows fine adjustment of the brewing pressure.

Boiler, Water, and Construction

Stainless steel boiler with 1.9 liters, fresh water tank with approx. 2.8 liters, accessible via the removable cup tray. Plus two angled portafilters with balanced weight distribution. Dimensions: 250 × 445 × 395 mm.

Who it's for

The Mechanika VI Slim is suitable when space is limited, but you don't want to forgo simultaneous brewing and frothing. Anyone who regularly makes milk-based drinks and enjoys fine-tuning the temperature will find plenty of scope here in a small footprint.

What goes with it

A consistent coffee grinder such as from the Eureka series forms the foundation. Plus a tamper and fresh beans like Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight. More ECM products can be found in the ECM Collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Mechanika VI Slim a heat exchanger or dual boiler?

A heat exchanger with a vibratory pump. Espresso and steam can be dispensed simultaneously, and the brewing temperature is controlled via the boiler.

Can I connect it to the water supply?

No. It operates with the 2.8-liter tank and is not prepared for a fixed water connection. If you want a fixed water connection, you should look at the Mechanika MAX.

How long does it take to heat up?

Allow about 20 minutes – the E61 brew group needs this time to reach a stable temperature.

Can I see it before buying?

Gladly. You can see it live in Bern and Zurich Oerlikon. Not every machine is always on site – just let us know, and we'll have it ready.

Roastery Tip

Consciously use the three temperature levels: The lower level reduces bitterness in dark roasts, while the higher level brings out more fruit and sweetness from light beans. Set the level to match the beans and experiment at your leisure. This is our recommendation, one of many.
