Option-O Lagom Casa – compact single-dose grinder with 65mm conical burrs
The Option-O Lagom Casa grinds with Mizen 65CL conical burrs at low RPM straight into the cup, stepless and with retention under 0.1 g.
You put a dose of beans into the top of the grinder. A DC motor drives the conical burrs through a planetary gearbox, and the grounds fall into the magnetically centred Dosing Cup below. Once the dose is ground, the Casa switches itself off, and the built-in knocker clears the last particles from the chute. 9 cm wide, 3.5 kg heavy.
«Casa» is Italian for «home». Option-O built it as a simple, reliable low-retention grinder for the coffee corner at home. Coffee Coaching Club is a partner of Option-O in Switzerland.
What makes the Lagom Casa stand out
Compact grinder for home
The Casa has a compact, understated design, with a housing made of anodised 6061 aluminium. The DC motor and planetary gearbox are designed for light-roast espresso and also deliver an even coarse grind for other brewing methods. The stepless adjustment ranges from fine for espresso to coarse for cold brew. After grinding, the grinder switches off automatically.
Low retention for single dose
Built-in knocker, stepless adjustment and a grind path optimised for low retention in everyday use. The workflow stays direct: add beans, grind, and the evenly ground coffee is ready in the cup. Option-O states the typical dynamic retention as under 0.1 g.
In-house developed Mizen conical burrs
The Casa's conical burrs are based on the 48mm conical set of the Lagom mini and are meant to make dialling in simple in everyday use. The Casa deliberately runs at low RPM, which according to Option-O gives a more even grind with the Mizen burrs. Option-O offers the Casa with 48mm or larger 65mm burrs; ours is fitted with Mizen 65CL.
Precision for reliable grinding performance
Every critical component is machined to a tolerance of under 0.01 mm (10 microns). The shaft runs in a triple-bearing setup and therefore grinds stably and concentrically. Thanks to careful assembly, the alignment is correct from the factory, according to Option-O.
The details in everyday use
Stepless adjustment with marking
Grind size can be adjusted without steps. A marking on the adjustment ring helps you find a position you have already dialled in.
Straight into the cup
The Dosing Cup sits magnetically centred under the chute and works for espresso as well as filter. The inlet holds 30–40 g of whole beans, the cup 40–50 g of ground coffee.
Easy to clean
Knocker and automatic shut-off are part of the standard equipment. According to Option-O, the design allows straightforward cleaning whenever it is needed.
Mizen 65CL in detail
Option-O describes the 65CL as omni burrs for espresso and pour-over with a balanced profile, medium-high clarity and moderate body, with more complexity than smaller burrs and a shorter grinding time. Conical burrs are named by their outer diameter; the grinding surface of the 65CL corresponds to common 63mm conical burrs.
Option-O tuned the Mizen burrs for clarity and balance, strongest with light roasts and well suited to other roast levels. For us, burrs are like engines: there is no objectively best one. This is our view, one of many.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Lagom Casa suited for espresso and filter?
Yes. The stepless adjustment ranges from espresso to French press, and the magnetically centred Dosing Cup works for the portafilter as well as for filter coffee. According to Option-O, the Mizen 65CL burrs are omni burrs for espresso and pour-over.
How low is the retention of the Lagom Casa?
Option-O states the typical dynamic retention as under 0.1 g. The built-in knocker clears residue from the chute, so you can switch beans from dose to dose.
How long does the Lagom Casa take to grind a dose?
For 18 g with the 65mm burrs, Option-O gives 20–30 seconds for pour-over and 25–35 seconds for espresso. The grinder then switches off automatically.
What is the difference between the Lagom Casa and the Lagom P80?
The Casa grinds with 65mm conical burrs at low RPM and is 9 cm wide. The Lagom P80 grinds with 80mm Mizen flat burrs with an integrated pre-breaker, has a speed control from 300 to 1700 RPM and a purge function. Both are built for single dose.
Can I switch between 48mm and 65mm burrs on the Lagom Casa?
According to Option-O, the 65mm burrs are machined so that 48mm and 65mm sets fit in the same housing. Our Lagom Casa is fitted with Mizen 65CL.
Can I see the Lagom Casa before buying?
In our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) we show a wide selection, and the display changes. Roastery tip: For dense, chocolatey espresso, Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight are a good fit, in milk drinks too. For maximum body without acidity: Very Nutty. If you want to discover a fruity experience, grind Wild Peach; according to Option-O, the Mizen burrs are tuned for light roasts. This is our recommendation, one of many.
