MHW-3BOMBER Magnetic Dosing Ring 58 mm – light and clean dosing
A brief touch and the ring is in place: ten magnets pull it onto the rim of your portafilter. You grind straight into it, the grounds land in the basket instead of on the drip tray, and after distributing you lift the ring off again with two fingers.
The opening flares out towards the top like a funnel and so also catches grounds that would otherwise fall next to the basket. At the bottom, the ring hangs on the outside of the basket rim, so it takes up no space in the basket. It is made of an aluminium alloy, which makes it very light.
Will it hold on your portafilter?
The ring is made for 58 mm portafilters. Magnets only hold on a magnetic rim. If you are unsure, briefly hold an ordinary magnet to the rim of your portafilter: if it sticks, the ring will hold too.
Cleaning
In our experience it is enough to knock out the ring after grinding and wipe it with a damp cloth now and then. Then let it dry well.

Tip from our café: When you grind straight into the portafilter, the coffee sits as a mound in the middle. In our experience it pays to stir with the ring on and only then take it off, so nothing falls over the rim when you lift it. That works with the dark, chocolatey Cozy Chocolate just as well as with the light Wild Peach, where even distribution helps bring the peach note cleanly into the cup. For a strong espresso with milk, Very Nutty fits, with plenty of body and hardly any acidity. You will find all our coffees under coffee beans. That is our recommendation, one of many.
