A four-group GB5 stands where things need to move fast. On this machine, the drip tray grate is the most-used surface of all: portafilters are set down on it, jugs put down, glasses pushed across. The whole shift plays out on it, and in the evening it's lifted out and washed.
Accordingly, the years show. The wire gives way where the same weight always stands, the surface loses its flatness, and at some point every other cup tips slightly to one side. This item carries the part number C.1.012.4.
The grate no longer lies flat and rocks in the tray. It sags visibly in the middle. A weld has come loose, or individual wires stick up. Rust spots have settled on the surface that no amount of cleaning will remove.

Tray, grate and top insert are three different parts, and the number of groups matters too. So that you order the right one, here are the items we carry:
If you're unsure which version and how many groups your machine has, send us the serial number – we'll check it before you order.
For businesses with a four-group GB5 whose grate has given way after years of continuous use. A new grate is the most visible refresh on a machine that will keep going technically for a long time yet.
The top insert C.1.012.4R belongs to the same machine and is a different part from this grate. For two groups there is the top insert C.1.012.2R. More items are listed under Original spare parts and La Marzocco accessories and spare parts. For limescale edges, Machine and grinder cleaning helps.
From our workshop
On the large machines in Bern and Zurich, we always look at the grate from the side rather than from above during a service. A sag of two or three millimetres shows up immediately against the light, but not at all from above. That's our routine, not a manufacturer requirement, but it saves the discussion about why the cups wobble. Afterwards we have Nutty Delight or Cozy Chocolate, and at peak times sometimes Very Nutty. More under Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on a machine. So before ordering, please check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick line and we'll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
They are two different parts for the same machine. C.1.012.4 is the drip tray grate itself, C.1.012.4R is the top insert for it. The surest way to tell which one you need is the number on your old part.
Our model filters don't cover the GB5. The fit is stated in the table above instead: GB5, four-group.
No. The grates differ in length. For three groups there is the raised grate C.1.509.3, for the two-group GB5 X the grate C.1.482.2.
No, only the grate is supplied. The tray underneath is a separate item.
