The grate that brings the cup a little closer to the spout
On a three-group GB5, very different vessels end up under the portafilter over the course of a day: flat espresso cups, tall latte glasses, to-go cups. This version of the drip tray grate is built with a raised section and thus changes the distance between the spout and the rim of the cup.
Like every drip tray grate, it carries the full load of daily service and is lifted out and washed every evening. At some point the surface is no longer level, the raised section no longer sits cleanly, and the cups stand unsteadily. This item carries the part number C.1.509.3.
When it's due
The grate rocks or sags in the middle. The material has become permanently deformed at the support points. A weld has broken or the edge has bent upwards. There are rust spots on the surface that can no longer be removed.

Drip trays, drip tray grates and top inserts in our catalogue
Tray, grate and top insert are three different parts, and the number of groups matters too. So that you order the right one, here are the items we carry:
If you're unsure which version and how many groups your machine has, send us the serial number – we'll check it before you order.
Who it's for
For businesses with a three-group GB5 S or GB5 X whose grate has given way after years of use. And for anyone who wants to keep a second grate in reserve so they don't have to do without a group during a deep clean.
What goes with it
More parts are listed in the Original spare parts section and in our range under La Marzocco accessories and spare parts. For the two-group GB5 X there is the grate C.1.482.2. To deal with limescale rings on the surface, Machine and grinder cleaning helps.
From our workshop
In Bern and Zurich we almost always keep a second grate ready. During a deep clean, the clean one goes in and the used one goes into the sink – so no group has to stand idle, and nobody is tempted to put a wet grate back. That's our routine, not a manufacturer requirement. What ends up in the cups afterwards is usually Nutty Delight or Cozy Chocolate, and for strong milk drinks Very Nutty. More under Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on a machine. So before ordering, please check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick line and we'll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
Why is no machine model shown in the filter for this part?
Our model filters don't cover the GB5. The part still clearly fits the GB5 S and GB5 X in the three-group version – the details are in the table above.
How high is the raised section?
We have no information on this, so we don't give a figure. If you need to know the exact distance to the spout, it's best to measure your old grate.
Does it also fit a two- or four-group GB5?
No. C.1.509.3 is the three-group version. For four groups, C.1.012.4 applies; for the two-group GB5 X, the grate C.1.482.2.
Is the drip tray included?
No, only the grate is supplied. Tray and top insert are separate items.
Can I see the part in your shop?
Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – the display changes. Drop us a quick line at [email protected] before your visit, and we will check whether the product you have in mind is currently there.
