The NECCST Scale – Brewing Hardware Without App Dependency
The NECCST Scale is a brewing coffee scale for baristas who want control directly on the device – not via a smartphone. Where Acaia relies on Bluetooth app connectivity and Timemore gets by with LED displays, NECCST focuses on a full 3.2-inch touchscreen with three directly operable modes. Developed by the Munich design studio Eckstein Design, the minds behind the NECCST Series 1, which won the Red Dot Design Award 2026.
Three Brewing Modes – One Control Panel
Grind Mode. Weighs during grinding. Place the dose, set target weight on the display, grind until stopped. Reproducible to 0.1 g.
Brew Mode. Weight and time simultaneously. Ideal for espresso (yield plus brew time) or French Press (water volume plus steep time).
Advanced Mode. Additionally, live flow rate in g/s. For pour-over and anyone who wants to see channeling immediately, rather than tasting it only in the cup.
Compared to other Brewing Scales
| Model | Resolution | Display | Flow Rate | Charging Port |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NECCST Scale | 0.1 g | 3.2″ Touchscreen | Live, in Advanced Mode | USB-C |
| Acaia Pearl S | 0.1 g | LED Dot Matrix | Live, via App | USB-C |
| Timemore Black Mirror Basic 2 | 0.1 g | LED | Live, simple | USB-C |
The NECCST Scale is one of the few brewing scales in its class with a full touchscreen interface – all modes can be operated directly on the device, no app needed.
Material and Operation
The NECCST Scale features an anodized aluminum weighing plate with a diameter of 125 mm – space for two cappuccino cups side by side. Anti-fingerprint glass on top, capacitive 3.2-inch touchscreen. CNC-milled base instead of sheet metal. Charged via USB-C, no coin cell battery hassle.
Yalcin's CCC Tip
The live flow rate is more than just a feature – it makes extraction visible. For pour-over of a light-roasted Ethiopian, you can see from the flow curve when the delicate aromas like linalool and geraniol (floral notes) are extracted – this usually happens in the second pour. For espresso, you can immediately detect channeling: the flow rate jumps abruptly. This way, consistency of taste is no longer a matter of luck.
