ECM Portafilter Double Spout – chrome-plated portafilter with wooden handle
Two streams start at the same time, split neatly into the cups, and the handle stays calm in your hand.
Two spouts don't mean twice the work, but the same work for two. The puck is the same, the weight ratio stays the same – 1:2 as a starting point, described by weight and never by time alone. The only thing that changes is how it's split afterwards. And because aroma unfolds largely retronasally – when you swallow, via the throat to the olfactory mucosa – it's worth handing the second espresso to someone and comparing what you both perceive.
How it's built
The body is finely chrome-plated, the handle made of wood – either Smoked Oak or olive wood. Smoked Oak is dark and calm, olive wood light with a lively grain; technically the two are identical. Wood grows, so every grain is different and every piece is unique. A subtle ECM embossing sits in the material.
Like all angled ECM portafilters, it's designed for ease of use: the angle allows a natural hand position when you lock it in, and the balanced weight distribution keeps it steady while you distribute the grounds. With two cups in a row, that counts for more than with one.
No basket is included. That's intentional, because the choice of basket changes the flavour profile fundamentally – hole pattern and hole distribution control how evenly the water runs through the puck, and a basket for 18 grams behaves differently from one for 21. Espresso is complex, but it's not rocket science, and there are neither espresso laws nor espresso police. Our opinion is one of many.

Who it's for
For everyone who rarely drinks coffee alone. Two cups from one shot aren't just faster, they're also identical – the same puck, the same extraction, the same conditions. For a side-by-side comparison, that's the most honest starting point there is.
And for everyone who likes to operate their E61 machine with tools that feel good. A wooden handle doesn't make better espresso than a plastic handle. It turns the grip into something you look forward to – and no budget is just a beginning here.
What goes well with it
Double shots and weight ratios go together, which is why a coffee scale belongs with it. For everyone who wants one that's affordable and precise: Normcore. If you want an app, flow-rate display and Bluetooth: Acaia.
When tamping, a solid base helps, especially when two shots run one after the other. For everyone who wants a tamping station that's affordable and good, Normcore is the obvious choice; if you want more effort in mechanics and material, you'll find it at Weber Workshops.
Frequently asked questions
Which machines does this portafilter fit?
It's a precise fit for ECM machines with an E61 group head. On E61 machines from other brands, the mounts are usually similar but not always identical – just send us your machine's article number and we'll give you a definite answer.
Is a basket included?
No, the portafilter comes without a basket. That way you choose yourself which basket suits your dose.
How does it differ from the single spout?
Only in the number of spouts. Two spouts split the shot into two cups; the puck and the weight ratio stay the same.
Which types of wood are available?
Smoked Oak and olive wood. Smoked Oak has a dark, calm grain, olive wood is light and lively. Technically both are identical, and because wood grows, every handle looks a little different.
How do I clean it?
By hand. Because of the wooden handle, ECM expressly advises against the dishwasher. For the group head, alongside that: backflush daily without detergent and every fifty or so shots with detergent, which takes about five minutes.
Can I see the product before buying?
Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – the display changes. Drop us a quick line at [email protected] before your visit, and we will check whether the product you have in mind is currently there. If you order online: delivery to Switzerland and Liechtenstein takes 2 to 4 working days.
From the roastery
Two cups from one shot are the best opportunity to experience a bean together. Nutty Delight and Cozy Chocolate are our first picks for this, full-bodied and sweet with a long finish. If you want maximum body without any acidity, go for Very Nutty; if you'd like to discover something fruity, Wild Peach. That's our recommendation, one of many; any other bean works just as well.
