ECM S-Automatik 64 Heritage Line – Espresso Grinder in Anthracite with Copper Accents
Copper catches the light, the anthracite body stays calm beside it, and the scent of freshly ground beans fills the room.
The fact that a device is beautiful changes the experience long before the first sip. Our brain also takes form, colour and feel into account, and dopamine is already released in anticipation, not only during enjoyment. The Heritage Line plays with exactly that: the same technology as the S-Automatik 64 in stainless steel, a different effect on the counter.
What sets this version apart
The grind scale is copper-coloured, as are the emblem and the ring around the on/off switch. Underneath, 64 mm steel burrs and a 450 W motor do the work, and the grind size can be adjusted steplessly, without notches telling you where you're allowed to stand.
The timer can be programmed for one and two doses, plus there are individual user modes and a display of the dispensed quantities. Fins on the body carry the motor's heat outwards, and the bean hopper has a stainless steel lid.
Whether a special edition makes the coffee better can't be measured, and we don't claim it does. Nobody needs it. You either want it or you don't, and both are fine. Anyone who wants it knows why, and that's enough. Our opinion is one of many.
In the end, what counts is what arrives in the cup. For that, we work with weight ratios instead of a stopwatch, 1:2 as a calm starting point, and accept that no shot will be exactly like yesterday's: bean, humidity and people change every day. That's not a limitation, that's the beauty of it.

Who it's made for
For everyone whose grinder stands in plain view and gets a say. In an open kitchen, next to a machine in anthracite, where copper and dark metal form one line together. And just as much for everyone who simply wants two doses at the push of a button every morning without worrying about the rest.
Matching machines in the same design language are in our espresso machines, the whole brand in the ECM Collection. Which setup suits your kitchen and the way you drink, you can explore at your own pace with our advice tool for coffee machines and grinders.
What goes well with it
For everyone who wants a scale that is affordable and precise: Normcore. Anyone who wants app connectivity and a flow rate display: Acaia. Both are in our coffee scales, and together with the timer dosing, the result is a routine that runs by itself in the morning.
A puck screen keeps the shower screen clean and distributes the water more gently over the coffee. Affordable and well made is the Normcore Puck Screen; if you want more, take the Weber Workshops Puck Screen, both in our puck screens. And if you want to tamp at the same angle every time, a tamping station from Normcore or, one step more elaborate, from Weber Workshops helps.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Heritage Line technically different from the S-Automatik 64 in stainless steel?
According to ECM, both share the same basis: 64 mm steel burrs, 450 W motor power, stepless grind adjustment and timer dosing. What differs is the finish of the housing and the copper-coloured accents.
What do the individual user modes mean?
In addition to the two dose settings, you can save your own settings, so several people in the household can find their dose again without reprogramming every time.
Does the grinder suit a machine with a 58 mm portafilter?
Yes, the spout is designed for grinding directly into the portafilter. If you prefer to grind into a dosing cup and transfer the coffee afterwards, you can do that just as well.
Can I see the ECM S-Automatik 64 Heritage Line live before buying?
That depends on whether the ECM S-Automatik 64 Heritage Line is on display right now. Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich Oerlikon (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – it is too large for that, and the display changes. Drop us a quick line at [email protected] before your visit, and we will check whether the ECM S-Automatik 64 Heritage Line is currently there.
How does buying in Switzerland work?
The usual route is via the online shop; delivery takes 2–4 working days, throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein. Financing is available, and if you'd like to clarify a question first, write to [email protected] or call us during business hours.
Tip from our coffee roastery
A grinder with this kind of calm goes well with a coffee that stays dense and sweet. We most like to drink Cozy Chocolate with it, with its chocolatey direction, or Nutty Delight, full-bodied and nutty, both very round with milk too. If you want body without any acidity, reach for Very Nutty, and if you'd like to discover something fruity for once, you'll find a lively change in Wild Peach. That's our recommendation, one of many.
