IMS Precision Basket 54mm – h26, approx. 16–20g (for Sage & Breville)

A little more height, a little more coffee: This 26mm basket gives your Sage or Breville espresso more body and mass without sacrificing consistency. In the bottomless portafilter, it produces a dense, smooth shot.

Nobody needs a precision basket for good espresso – the original basket does its job. You want it because the cup becomes clearer and rounder. This is one of many possible choices, and we respect both directions.

What makes this basket special

IMS's competition perforation is designed for even extraction: 583 round holes with a conical cross-section, distributed in a grid pattern, allow water to flow cleanly over the entire puck – fewer channels, rounder in the cup. The surface is brightly polished all around, even inside the holes, so that hardly any coffee residue sticks and cleaning is easy (dishwasher safe). Made from AISI-304 stainless steel in Italy, with a flat bottom. Espresso is extraction based on a weight ratio, usually 1:2; what you taste is density, sweetness, and a long finish. Taste and smell are inseparable, a large part of which is retronasal. It is our observation that the choice of basket fundamentally changes the flavor profile.

Who it's for

For Sage and Breville users (Express, Bambino, Bambino Plus, Barista Pro) who like to dose a little higher and prefer more body – all budgets are welcome. In a bottomless portafilter, the even flow is most beautifully displayed. If you dose leaner or even higher, you'll find the series also available in 22, 24, and 28mm. You belong here because you love coffee – not because you use a specific basket.

What goes with it

Most beautiful in your Sage/Breville bottomless portafilter. To level the puck: the tamper collection (for 54mm, a 53.3mm tamper, e.g., from Normcore) – premium tools at Weber Workshops. To prevent clumps beforehand: WDT Tools. Plus the matching grinder. All other baskets: Precision Baskets Collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the basket fit my Sage or Breville?

Yes – for 54mm brew groups, including Express, Bambino, Bambino Plus, and Barista Pro. For the standard portafilter, remove the plastic insert; in the bottomless portafilter, the basket sits directly.

What dose does the h26 height hold?

At 26mm high, approximately 16–20g, depending on grind and roast. Basket height is the most reliable indicator; the series is also available in 22mm (12–16g), 24mm (14–18g), and 28mm (18–20g).

How do I clean the basket?

The polished surface prevents residue from sticking; the basket is dishwasher safe. Occasionally soak in detergent for espresso oils.

Can I see the basket before buying?

Yes, in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich Oerlikon (Hagenholzstrasse 50b).

Roastery Tip

A consistent basket rewards dense, aromatic beans the most. From our coffee roastery, Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight brew full-bodied and round. For maximum body without any acidity, stick with Very Nutty; if you like fruity, discover a vibrant peach note with Wild Peach. Our recommendation – one of many.
