It clicks in, a brief resistance, firm. The portafilter sits right where it sat years ago.
Silicone under heat works against itself. What springs back at first and pulls the portafilter tight against the group head hardens over the years. The handle then moves further round, step by step, until at some point it almost turns all the way through.
What a fresh gasket restores
The visible part is the water escaping at the edge of the portafilter. The invisible part is the pressure lost there. Because pressure shapes the aromatic window of time and different compounds dissolve at different points, even a small loss shifts the whole profile in the cup: less body, flatter sweetness, a shorter finish.
With a fresh gasket, the bayonet mount engages at the usual angle again, and the pressure stays where it belongs – in the puck. It doesn't turn any shot into a different coffee, but it gives the coffee back what it was giving away before.
This gasket is specified for the Grace PL81T. Anna and Anita also have a 57 mm group head but use the MC047/SIL gasket – a different part with its own item number, which we stock separately.

Who this gasket is for
For anyone with a Grace PL81T whose portafilter locks in too far or leaks water at the edge during a shot. Changing it takes a few minutes and only needs a screwdriver to lift the old gasket out of its groove.
Nobody needs a spare part before the time comes. Once you make the change, you'll feel the difference the next time you lock in – and that's reason enough.
What goes with it
The group head is one part, the water inside it the other. Descaler, backflush powder and brushes are under machine and grinder cleaning: daily without detergent, every fifty shots or every two weeks with detergent, around five minutes.

Frequently asked questions
Does this gasket fit my machine?
It's specified for the Lelit Grace PL81T. Anna and Anita are also 57 mm but need the MC047/SIL gasket. If you're unsure, send us the item number or the rating plate of your machine at [email protected] – we'll check the fit before you order.
Why are there two different 57 mm gaskets?
Because the same diameter doesn't mean the same geometry. The Grace uses 8700018, Anna and Anita use MC047/SIL. Two item numbers, two parts, not interchangeable.
How do I know it's time for a change?
The portafilter turns in further and further and barely gets tight, and water runs out at the edge during a shot. In the cup, it shows as thinner body and a shorter finish.
How do I change the gasket?
Remove the shower screen, lift the old gasket out of the groove with a screwdriver, clean the groove, press the new gasket in with even pressure and lock the portafilter in once so it seats. If you'd like support with it, write to us – we'll go through it with you.
