Mahlkönig Silicone Flapper 1 Piece – the small part that lets the E64 WS deliver cleanly
The E64 WS weighs the grounds to a tenth of a gram – and then a piece of silicone decides whether that gram really lands in the basket. The flapper sits as a soft flap in the outlet, catches the static charge and holds the coffee together instead of spreading it over the kitchen counter.
Precisely because it stands in the stream of grounds all the time, it is a wear part. Coffee oils and cleaning agents harden the silicone over time, the flap no longer springs back cleanly, and what used to fall in a bundle suddenly fans out. Here you get it on its own – no set, no bulk pack, exactly one spare part.
When it is due
You can tell from the delivery: the grounds dust wider than before, a remainder stays behind in the outlet after every pass, and the flapper feels stiff rather than elastic between your fingers. Small cracks along the edge of the flap are the clearest sign.

For everyone with an E64 WS at home who needs only this one part. If the metal flapper is bent as well or missing, you are better off with the complete silicone and metal flapper set for the E64 WS Home.

Tip from our workshop
Our own routine in Bern and Zurich, expressly not a manufacturer specification: when a grinder suddenly dusts more, we clean the outlet first and grind two doses through before we even talk about a new part. We take Nutty Delight or Cozy Chocolate for that, because we know how they come out inside and out; for strong shots Very Nutty. If the picture stays restless afterwards, the flapper is up. Return excluded
Service parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced to order and cannot be put back on sale once they have been fitted or held against the machine. So check the model, year and serial number of your grinder before you order – or drop us a line and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
Does this flapper fit the X54 as well?
No. The X54 Home has its own part with its own manufacturer number, even though the two grinders look similar from the outside. If in doubt, send us the serial number and we will check the fit.
What is the difference to the flapper set?
Here you get the silicone flap only. The set also contains the metal flapper, which breaks up the grounds beforehand. If there is nothing wrong with the metal part, this single piece is enough.
How often do I have to change it?
There is no universal figure for that – it depends on quantity, roast level and cleaning. The condition decides: hard, brittle or torn means replace.
Can I do the change myself?
The flapper sits in the outlet and is accessible from outside. How exactly it is held differs from build to build, so we do not give general instructions. Give us a call and we will go through it together.
Can I see the part at your place?
Yes. In Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b our grinders stand set up and in use – come by for an espresso and we will show you where the part sits.
