MHW-3BOMBER silicone tamping mat 250 × 180 mm with two recesses – tamper and distributor always within reach

The portafilter rests firmly on the soft silicone, the angled edge of the mat hooks over the edge of your worktop, and at the back, tamper and distributor stand ready in the two round recesses. One reach to distribute, one to tamp, and no tool with coffee grounds on its base ends up lying on the counter.

The tamping mat from MHW-3BOMBER is made of food-grade silicone. It is non-slip, protects worktop and portafilter and keeps your workspace clean. You place the angled edge against the front edge of the counter, so you can set the portafilter securely against the edge while tamping. On the raised shelf behind it sit two round recesses for tamper and distributor.

How it differs from the flat tamping mat

Our MHW-3BOMBER Tamping Mat is a flat mat without a shelf and is available in several colours. This version is larger at 250 × 180 mm and also has the two recesses for your tools. If tamper and distributor stand next to the machine anyway, it is the tidier solution. If space is tight, the flat mat is often enough.

Cleaning

Silicone is easy to clean. Wipe away loose grounds with a cloth, and if needed rinse the mat under warm water and let it dry before you put the tools back in.

Who it’s for

For anyone who uses a distributor or leveling tool alongside the tamper and wants both within reach. For example at a machine in the kitchen, where tools would otherwise lie around between cups and grinder. Or in a small office where several people use the same tools and every item should have a fixed place.

Tip from our café: Put the tools into the recesses in the order you need them: the distributor first, the tamper next to it. In our experience, this makes the routine calmer and you do not reach for the wrong one. For everyday use we like Creamy Chestnut with its note of roasted chestnuts and the nutty blend Nutty Delight. If you like it fruity, try Bright Cassis, a lively omniroast with a blackcurrant note. That is our recommendation, one of many.

What goes with it

A tamper with an audible click at 30 lbs is the MHW-3BOMBER Flash Tamper 2.0. You will find more stations and mats under Tamping Stations, and tampers under Tampers. All products from the brand are at MHW-3BOMBER, and the right roasts under Coffee Beans.

How big is the tamping mat?

The mat measures 250 x 180 mm. At the back it has a raised shelf with two round recesses, at the front an angled edge for the edge of the worktop.

What are the two recesses for?

For tamper and distributor or leveling tool. That way both tools stand on the mat after use instead of on the counter.

How do I clean the mat?

Wipe away loose grounds with a cloth. If needed, rinse the mat under warm water and let it dry.

How does it differ from the flat MHW-3BOMBER tamping mat?

The flat tamping mat is smaller and has no shelf. This version measures 250 x 180 mm and also offers two recesses for your tools.

How quickly will the tamping mat be delivered?

Delivery takes 2–4 working days, throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein. Click & Collect is available in Bern and Zurich.

Can I see the tamping mat before buying?

Of course. Visit us in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich Oerlikon (Hagenholzstrasse 50b). It is best to ask briefly beforehand whether it is currently on site.
