The flat “Bubble” tamper with a patterned aluminium handle, supplied with a wooden coaster as a rest.
The flat stainless steel base presses the coffee grounds level so the water flows evenly through the puck instead of finding a quick way through. The high rim of about two centimetres sits centred on the 58 mm portafilter without slipping as you press, and the handle unscrews for cleaning. The tamper is made in Italy – Metallurgica Motta has been building tools like this since 1967.
A level compression is the basis for an even extraction – and that, in turn, for a drink that tastes good. Which look you hold in your hand is a matter of taste: the function is the same across all variants, you choose the design. Nobody needs a particular pattern – you want it. Our view is one of many.

For anyone with a 58 mm portafilter who wants to compress the coffee grounds level – and likes to decide for themselves which look sits on the counter. The flat base is the classic choice for even compression.
The tamper is part of the puck before the shot: grind evenly with our coffee grinders, pull the shot on your espresso machine. Our advice tool helps you choose.
If you'd like to compare tampers and accessories: the Normcore Collection is affordable and precise, while the Weber Workshops Collection shows the particularly finely finished side. You'll find more models in our Tamper Collection.
58 mm portafilters. The high rim sits centred and doesn't slip as you press.
The tamper comes with a wooden coaster as a rest. The handle is aluminium with a bubble pattern, the base is stainless steel and unscrews for cleaning.
A flat base compresses the grounds level, a convex one more towards the centre. There's no right or wrong – many prefer the flat base for even compression. In the end what counts is that the cup tastes good.
Gladly. You can experience it live in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zürich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b). Online we deliver in 2–4 working days, throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein.
A level-tamped puck deserves full-bodied beans. Our Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight bring chocolate and nutty notes. For maximum body without acidity the Very Nutty, for a fruity experience the Wild Peach. That's our recommendation – one of many.
