The "Wood" flat tamper with a brown wooden handle.
The flat stainless steel base presses the coffee grounds evenly, ensuring that water flows through the puck consistently instead of finding a quick path. The high rim, approximately two centimeters, centers itself on the 58mm portafilter without slipping during pressing, and the handle can be unscrewed for cleaning. The tamper is made in Italy – Metallurgica Motta has been building such tools since 1967.
Even compaction is the foundation for consistent extraction – and that, in turn, for a delicious drink. What look you hold in your hand is a matter of taste: the function is the same for all variants, you choose the design. Nobody needs a specific pattern – one wants it. Our opinion is one of many.

For anyone with a 58mm portafilter who wants to compact coffee grounds evenly – and enjoys choosing which look stands on their counter. The flat base is the classic choice for even compaction.
The tamper is part of the puck before brewing: evenly ground in our coffee grinders, brewed on your espresso machine. Our consultation tool helps with the choice.
If you like to compare tampers and accessories: the Normcore Collection is affordable and precise, while the Weber Workshops Collection shows the particularly finely crafted side. More models can be found in our Tamper Collection.
For 58mm portafilters. The high rim centers itself and does not slip when pressing.
The handle is made of brown wood, the base of stainless steel. It is best to only wipe wooden handles with a damp cloth instead of soaking them.
A flat base compacts the grounds evenly, a convex one more towards the center. There is no right or wrong – many prefer the flat base for even compaction. Ultimately, what matters is that the cup tastes good.
Absolutely. You can experience it live in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b). Online, we deliver in 2–4 business days, throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein.
An evenly tamped puck deserves full-bodied beans. Our Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight bring chocolate and nut notes. For maximum body without acidity, try Very Nutty, for a fruity experience, Wild Peach. This is our recommendation – one of many.
