The flat stainless steel base compresses the coffee grounds evenly, ensuring that water flows consistently through the puck instead of finding a quick path. The high rim, about two centimeters high, sits centrally on the 58mm portafilter without slipping when pressed, and the handle can be unscrewed for cleaning. The tamper is made in Italy – Metallurgica Motta has been manufacturing such tools since 1967.
