The "Mimetic" flat tamper with an aluminum handle in a camouflage pattern.
The flat stainless steel base compresses the coffee grounds evenly so that the water flows through the puck consistently instead of finding a quick path. The high rim of about two centimeters sits centered on the 58mm portafilter without slipping when pressed, and the handle can be unscrewed for cleaning. The tamper is made in Italy – Metallurgica Motta has been building such tools since 1967.
Even tamping is the foundation for even extraction – and that, in turn, for a drink that tastes good. Which look you hold in your hand is a matter of taste: the function is the same for all variants, you choose the design. Nobody needs a specific pattern – they want it. Our opinion is one of many.

For anyone with a 58mm portafilter who wants to tamp coffee grounds evenly – and likes to decide for themselves which look stands on their counter. The flat base is the classic choice for even tamping.
The tamper is part of the puck before brewing: even grinding is done in our coffee grinders, brewed with your espresso machine. Our consultation tool helps with the choice.
If you like to compare tampers and accessories: the Normcore Collection is affordable and precise, while the Weber Workshops Collection shows the particularly finely crafted side. Further models can be found in our Tamper Collection.
For 58mm portafilters. The high rim sits centrally and does not slip when pressed.
The handle is made of aluminum in a mimetic pattern, the base is stainless steel. The handle can be unscrewed for cleaning.
A flat base tamps the grounds evenly, a convex one more towards the center. There is no right or wrong – many prefer the flat base for even tamping. Ultimately, what matters is that the cup tastes good.
Very gladly. You can experience it live in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b). We deliver online within 2–4 working days, throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein.
An evenly tamped puck deserves full-bodied beans. Our Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight bring chocolate and nut notes. For maximum body without acidity, try Very Nutty, for a fruity experience, the Wild Peach. This is our recommendation – one of many.
