Normcore Premium Dosing Funnel – Magnetic for 51, 54 and 58 mm Portafilters
A quiet click, a magnetic snap, and the funnel is seated. Beans trickle from the grinder directly into the filter – not beside it, not onto the counter, not into the machine. A tool that makes the difference between clean preparation and crumb chaos in a single-dose workflow.
Three sizes, one principle: 58 mm for E61 machines and all classic portafilters, 54 mm for Sage and Breville, 51 mm for De'Longhi, Ascaso and comparable setups. Magnetic, without tools, without screws – simply place it on and grind.
How the Magnet Sits
Neodymium magnets hold the funnel precisely on the filter basket rim. It remains stable during grinding, and releases with a twist when removed. No slipping, no wobbling. Anyone working with single dose knows the problem: beans that end up around the filter basket during grinding, or grounds that trickle past the rim. The dosing funnel catches this – mechanically, simply, reliably.
Which Size for Which Machine
Most espresso machines with portafilters use the 58 mm standard – La Marzocco, Profitec, ECM, Rocket, Bezzera, Lelit, Gaggia, Arkel, Torre and many more. If you're grinding for a Sage or Breville machine (Barista Express, Barista Pro, Dual Boiler), you'll need the 54 mm funnel. For De'Longhi machines, Ascaso or certain Solis models, 51 mm is the correct size. If in doubt, check the machine's manual or inquire in the showroom.

Who It's Made For
The dosing funnel is for anyone serious enough about making espresso to be tired of bean loss and static chaos. Those who grind single doses particularly benefit – the grounds go directly from the chute into the funnel and from there cleanly into the filter basket. Those who work with a hopper gain a controlled collection point between grinder and filter basket. No one strictly needs the funnel – but once you've worked with it, you rarely want to go back.
What Goes With It
The funnel becomes part of a workflow. Before it comes the grinder – affordable and very good options start with the Varia VS3 or Comandante C40 from our Coffee Grinder Collection, with more control from the WPM Welhome Pro Collection or the Weber Workshops Collection.
After the funnel comes puck preparation. Affordable in-house options: WDT Tool, Tamper, Puck Screen and Tamping Station from our Normcore Collection. For maximum craftsmanship: the Weber Workshops Collection with Moonraker, Tamper and Puck Screen.
On the machine side, the same applies – from single boiler to dual boiler in our Coffee Machine Collection. If you're still choosing, use our consultation tool.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which size fits my machine?
58 mm fits almost all espresso machines with a classic portafilter – E61 machines, La Marzocco, Profitec, ECM, Rocket, Bezzera, Lelit, Gaggia, Arkel and many more. 54 mm is for Sage and Breville machines like Barista Express, Pro and Dual Boiler. 51 mm fits De'Longhi, Ascaso and some Solis models. If in doubt, check your machine's manual or ask us.
How strong are the magnets?
Strong enough to hold the funnel on the portafilter throughout the entire grinding process – including 18 to 22 grams of beans. A small side twist is enough to remove it. The funnel does not slip during normal use.
Can I see the funnel before buying?
Yes, in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) you can try the funnel live, feel how the magnet holds, and test it on your own portafilter. Click & Collect at both locations.
How do I clean the funnel?
With warm water and mild detergent. The funnel is not dishwasher safe, as the magnets and anodized aluminum can otherwise be damaged. For oily roasts, wipe thoroughly every few days.
Will the magnet also stick to a stainless steel machine?
The adhesion is to the steel portafilter, not the machine itself. As long as the portafilter is ferromagnetic – which is the case for all standard portafilters – the magnetic connection works reliably.
Delivery and Collection?
Throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2–4 business days. Click & Collect in Bern and Zurich. For questions before purchase, you can reach us by email at office@coffeecoachingclub.ch or by phone during business hours.
Roastery Tip
The funnel proves its worth with every shot – regardless of the bean. For all those who want to experience the full aroma in espresso: Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight from our roastery – dense, round cups with caramel and nutty notes. For those seeking maximum body: Very Nutty. For those who like fruity profiles: Wild Peach. These are our recommendations – one of many.
