Normcore Heavy Coffee Distributor (53.3/54 & 58.5 mm)
A quick placement, a few turns – and the grounds lay even and settled in the portafilter. The weight of the tool does the work for you; you simply guide it.
A distributor with adjustable depth that evenly distributes the grounds in the portafilter before tamping.
What makes this distributor special
The Heavy Coffee Distributor evenly distributes the grounds in the portafilter, creating a level base for tamping. Its depth can be adjusted, allowing you to adapt it to the amount of beans and the basket. An even layer helps prevent channeling – and that's just our view, one of many. Distribution remains a learning process, not a subject to be mastered.
The tool is made of stainless steel and aluminum; the handle fits comfortably in the hand. It is available in 58.5 mm for common 58 mm portafilters, such as those from La Marzocco, and in 53.3/54 mm for Breville and Sage.

Pairs well with
Before that, you might want to loosen the grounds with a WDT tool, then comes the tamp – both affordable and excellent from our Normcore Collection, with higher material standards from Weber Workshops. Also, bottomless portafilters and filter baskets also from Normcore.
You can find the right machine in the Coffee Machine Collection, and the grinder in the Coffee Grinder Collection. If you're still choosing, use our consultation tool.
Frequently Asked Questions about the Heavy Coffee Distributor
What are the benefits of adjustable depth?
You can adjust the distributor to the amount of beans and the basket, so that it distributes the grounds evenly without over-compressing the puck.
Which size should I choose?
58.5 mm fits common 58 mm portafilters, such as those from La Marzocco; 53.3/54 mm fits Breville and Sage.
How does it differ from the Gravity Distributor?
The Heavy Coffee Distributor has an adjustable depth; the Gravity Distributor from our collection distributes via a five-blade base. Both arrange the puck before tamping – it's a matter of preference.
Do I need it in addition to a WDT tool?
They complement each other: the WDT tool loosens and breaks up clumps, then the distributor evens out the surface.
Roastery Tip
Even distribution helps, but the bean makes the taste. For dense, sweet espresso, we often reach for Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight. If you like it full and round without any acidity, stick with Very Nutty; for a fruity experience, Wild Peach goes into the grinder. This is our recommendation, one of many, and any bean you enjoy is the right one.
