Normcore Puck Screen 53.3 mm – 2 Pieces (1.7 and 1.0 mm) with Stand for Sage and Breville
On the compact 54mm stage of your Sage or Breville, the coffee bed is denser than in larger machines. You place the fine stainless steel disc on top, close the group head, and the water spreads out more gently instead of shooting in at one spot. After extraction, the puck detaches in one piece – and the shower screen stays clean.
The same idea as its big brother, just custom-fit for 53.3 and 54 mm.
What makes the Puck Screen special
The Puck Screen rests on top of the tamped coffee bed and ensures a softer, more even water flow into the puck. This helps reduce channeling and promotes more consistent extraction. At the same time, it keeps the shower screen clean because hardly any coffee grounds are drawn upwards, and the puck can be knocked out compactly. With a mesh size of 150 microns, the screen supports full extraction.
The set includes two thicknesses: 1.7 mm and 1.0 mm. The 1.7 mm is the most popular choice for normal grind sizes and goes well with lighter and medium roasts. If you grind finer, for example for darker roasts, the 1.0 mm is the calmer choice. There's no right or wrong; this is just our view, one of many.

Roastery Tip
On compact 54mm machines, the puck sits denser – a Puck Screen keeps the shower screen noticeably cleaner. For dense, sweet espresso, we like to reach for Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight. If you prefer a full and round taste with no acidity, stick with Very Nutty; for a fruity experience, Wild Peach goes into the grinder. This is our recommendation, one of many, and any bean you like is the right one.
