Normcore Spring-Loaded Tamper V4.1 Mini 58.5 mm

Small in the hand, clear in the result. Pressing down, you feel the defined resistance of the spring, and the tamp sits right – even when there's barely any space on the counter. The short build makes it easy to handle, without the consistency suffering.

The compact variant of the spring-loaded V4.1 – around 75 mm tall instead of the nearly 100 mm of the standard version.

What makes the V4.1 Mini special

The spring-loaded mechanism takes the variable of the day's hand out of the tamp: a pre-calibrated spring always releases the same force once it triggers. That makes the tamp comparable from shot to shot, which helps with dialing in. The compact height of around 75 mm makes it especially easy to handle – pleasant in small kitchens and for mobile setups.

The base plate is made of 304 stainless steel, smooth and sturdy. Replaceable springs are included – 15 lb, 25 lb, and 30 lb, with the middle one already installed – plus a tamper stand. Whether you prefer the compact or the full height is a matter of taste, and that's just our view, one among many.

Who the V4.1 Mini is made for

For everyone with a standard 58 mm portafilter who wants a handy, short tamper – say, in small kitchens or on the go. Every coffee path is welcome here.

What goes with it

A Tamping Station keeps the portafilter steady – it, along with the matching Puck Screen, WDT Tool, or dosing funnel, is waiting in our Normcore Collection. For anyone who wants maximum material quality in their accessories, take a look at the Weber Workshops Collection.

Grinder and machine complete the trio: affordable precision in the Varia Collection, maximum clarity with Weber Workshops or Option-O. The right espresso machine is easy to find through our advisory tool.

Frequently asked questions about the Normcore Tamper V4.1 Mini

How does the Mini differ from the standard?

At around 75 mm, the Mini is noticeably shorter than the standard version at nearly 100 mm. The spring mechanism and the calibrated pressing force are the same.

Which spring should I use?

The middle 25 lb spring is pre-installed. 15 lb for finer grind and lighter roasts, 30 lb for stronger pressure and denser pucks. The springs are included.

Which machines fit 58.5 mm?

Standard 58 mm portafilters on most espresso machines, for example from La Marzocco, Rocket, ECM, Profitec, or Lelit.

Can I see the tamper before buying?

Yes, in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zürich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b). Ordering online is the primary way, with delivery throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2 to 4 business days.

Roastery tip

A handy tamper suits any setup, small or large. For dense, sweet espresso, we like to reach for Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight. If you like it full and round without any acidity, stick with Very Nutty; for a fruity experience, Wild Peach goes into the grinder. That's our recommendation, one among many, and whichever bean tastes good to you is the right one.
