A complete steam tap – when tightening no longer helps
A steam tap doesn't break, it gets tired. Year after year the cone presses onto the same seat, each time a little hotter, each time with a little limescale in between. At some point closing it is no longer enough, and you notice that you're tightening it harder than you used to – which flattens the seat even faster.
When it gets to that point, a complete tap does more than yet another gasket. You get the spindle, seat and sealing surfaces back in one consistent condition instead of chasing three small parts one after another.
When it's due
When a faint hiss remains after closing. When water or steam escapes at the shaft. When the handle judders, is stiff or turns further than it used to. When you need force to close it just to make it stop.

Important for installation
The tap sits in the pressurised steam path. Before any work, the machine must be disconnected from the mains, depressurised and completely cooled down. We deliberately don't give step-by-step instructions here – a poorly seated fitting only starts leaking under operating pressure. Have the replacement done by a qualified technician.
Who it's for
For service workshops that have the number from a service document and need the part without a detour, and for anyone whose steam tap no longer closes.
The steam and water taps in the Rocket catalogue
We list the taps and valves by model. These items belong together:
What goes with it
The tap goes together with the spring, the O-ring and the ball plate. Everything else under Rocket accessories and spare parts and Original spare parts.
Workshop tip from Bern and Zurich
After frothing, we always leave the tap open for one second longer before closing it – the last burst of steam blows milk residue out of the wand that would otherwise be drawn back in as it cools. That's our workshop routine, not a manufacturer requirement. For dialling in afterwards we use Nutty Delight, for chocolatey notes Cozy Chocolate and for body Very Nutty. All roasts under Coffee beans.
Returns excluded
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a trial fitting on the machine. So before ordering, check your machine's model, year of manufacture and serial number – or drop us a quick message and we'll clarify the fit together. Your statutory rights regarding defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions

What thread and what dimensions does it have?
Thread size, spanner size and installation length aren't documented anywhere. We make no claims about them – ask us beforehand.
Are the rotary handle and gaskets included?
The scope of delivery follows the manufacturer's specification for number M22NSF7144. A steam wand and a nozzle are not included. Write to us before ordering and we'll clarify the rest.
