The valve behind the water knob of your R58
The hot water tap is used less often than the steam tap – and that is exactly what makes it vulnerable. A valve that sits in the same position for weeks builds up limescale, and the next time it is opened the cone drags across a rough surface. After that, it no longer closes cleanly.
A dripping hot water tap is more harmless than a leaking steam tap, but it costs you the same limescale in the drip tray and the same unease every time you look at it. A new valve resets the cone and the seat in one go.
When it is due
When the tap keeps dripping after you turn it off. When water escapes at the spindle as soon as you open it. When the knob is stiff or turns further than it used to. When you need force to close it just to make it stop.

Important for installation
The valve sits in the pressurised hot water circuit. Before any work, the machine must be disconnected from the mains, depressurised and completely cooled down. We deliberately do not provide step-by-step instructions here – a poorly seated fitting only starts leaking under operating pressure.
Who it is for
For R58 owners with a dripping hot water tap and for service workshops that renew both valves in one go.
The steam and water taps in the Rocket catalogue
We list the taps and valves by model. These items belong together:
What goes with it
Working at the same spot are the spindle for the steam and water tap, the gasket and the valve cap. At the outlet sit the hot water spout and the hot water pipe. All parts for your model are listed under Spare parts Rocket R58 and R60 and Original spare parts.
Workshop tip from Bern and Zürich
We run a little hot water through every machine once a week, even if nobody asks for it. A valve that is not moved for months builds up limescale and tears up the seat the next time it is opened. This is our workshop routine, not a manufacturer requirement. For dialling in afterwards we use Nutty Delight, for chocolatey notes Cozy Chocolate and for body Very Nutty. All roasts under Coffee beans.
Returns excluded
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fitting on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick message and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a solenoid valve?
No. The valve is operated by hand via the rotary knob and has neither a coil nor an electrical connection.
How does it differ from the valve for the steam tap?
In the part number and the price. The water valve has number A227704669, the steam valve A227705093. Order the side that is dripping on your machine.
Are the rotary knob and spindle included?
The scope of delivery follows the manufacturer's specification for number A227704669. The knob and hot water wand are not included.
My tap only drips slightly – is descaling enough?
Sometimes, yes. Descale the machine and move the tap fully open and closed a few times. If it keeps dripping, the valve seat is worn out and the valve needs to be replaced.
Can I see the part in the showroom?
Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – the display changes. Drop us a quick line at [email protected] before your visit, and we will check whether the product you have in mind is currently there.
