E61 Group Head Silicone Gasket – 73 × 57 × 8 mm
The portafilter locks in firmly again and nothing runs past the rim. Silicone group head gasket, 73 × 57 × 8 mm, for E61 espresso machines.
The gasket sits at the top of the group head and presses the portafilter rim against the group. With heat and time, every gasket becomes harder and flatter. The portafilter then turns further in, the handle ends up further and further to the right, and at some point water escapes at the rim. A new gasket restores the original state.
8 or 8.5 mm – what the thickness does
E61 gaskets almost always share the same diameters, 73 mm outside and 57 mm inside. What differs is the thickness: 8 mm and 8.5 mm are common. The thickness decides where the handle locks in. A thinner gasket lets the portafilter turn further in, a thicker one less far.
The 8 mm version suits new or lightly worn E61 groups where the handle should sit at about 6 o’clock. If the handle turns clearly past 6 o’clock with a new gasket, a thicker gasket is the right choice. Lelit fits the same dimension at the factory (original part MC752/6, 73 × 57 × 8 mm, silicone). ECM and Profitec fit the 8.5 mm version on E61 models from 06/2021 (original part P1021). If you want to keep the factory thickness there, you need 8.5 mm.

Who it is for
For everyone with an E61 espresso machine whose portafilter turns in too far or drips at the rim. The swap needs no special tools: unscrew the shower screen, lever out the old gasket, fit the new one. Single boiler, heat exchanger or dual boiler, the gasket is the same; what matters is the E61 group. You will find E61 machines from Lelit, ECM and Profitec, and all models in our espresso machines. The machine comparison tool narrows down which machine suits you.
A gasket lasts longer when the group stays clean. We recommend a daily backflush without cleaner and one with cleaner roughly every 50 shots. You will find cleaning products and brushes in machine and grinder cleaning, and tools for the group head in Barista Equipment. Our opinion is one of many.

Frequently asked questions
Does the gasket fit my machine?
It fits E61 group heads with the standard size 73 × 57 mm. Lelit fits exactly this dimension at the factory. ECM and Profitec fit the 8.5 mm version on E61 models from 06/2021. If you are unsure, send us your machine model at [email protected].
Do I need 8 mm or 8.5 mm?
Both have the same diameters. The 8 mm gasket suits new or lightly worn groups where the handle should lock in at about 6 o’clock. If the handle turns clearly past 6 o’clock with a new gasket, 8.5 mm is the better choice.
When should I replace the gasket?
When the portafilter turns noticeably further in than before, is hard to lock in, or water escapes at the rim. How quickly that happens depends on use and cleaning.
Can I see the gasket before buying?
We are happy to confirm in advance by email at [email protected] whether the product is on site. Click & Collect is available in Bern and Zurich.
Tip from the roastery: A well-sealed group keeps pressure and temperature stable, and you taste that in the cup. From our coffee roastery we like Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight for this: full-bodied, with chocolate and nut. If you are after maximum body, go for Very Nutty. For the curious, Wild Peach is the fruity addition. That is our recommendation, one of many.
