Vegetable-tanned leather likes to stay dry. Just wipe off crumbs and splashes, don't soak it. Over time, the leather develops a beautiful patina.

Tip from the roastery
Place the mat where you tamp anyway – a firm edge at hip height helps you press straight down from above. That makes the tamp more even than on a soft or wobbly surface. That's our recommendation, one of many.
